NEED TO KNOW
Britney Spears is doing some reflecting heading into this holiday season.
After reactivating her Instagram account on Nov. 7, the pop superstar, 43, shared a reflective message about listening to her inner child and how “good things” can emerge from difficult times in a since-edited lengthy caption on Saturday, Nov. 29.
The message comes alongside a clip of the star dancing along to Adele’s “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” and lip-syncing to lines like, “We’ve gotta let go of all of our ghosts / We both know we ain’t kids no more.”
Spears began her caption with, “Haven’t found my party dress for this year 👗… Reflecting is good for the soul… Sometimes when hard things happen, good things come from it and we learn… I learned that a real note of expression with emotion speaks volumes for us all!!”
Next, the singer shared a message about the importance of holding onto one’s inner child.
“Call it childish, silly, annoying… We grow up to become women but do you dare keep the most sensitive part of the soul and allow it to rebel… the child within must speak in the most vulnerable of times,” Spears continued.
She went on to share a message about loss, which appeared to contain a nod to the title of her popular memoir, The Woman in Me.
“Sadness and darkness survive to make an understanding of losing someone and of the hurt and pain…,” Spears wrote. “Sometimes through suffering and ugliness and sacrifice, extremely rare and beautiful things can be manifested and shared that can touch another person so they understand they are not alone… and yet the woman in me will make sure I find my destination.”
The “Gimme More” singer ended the message with a postscript about her Thanksgiving celebration, revealing that she enjoyed a holiday meal.
“PS I can’t even look at food after this Thanksgiving… I cheated I was so bad…,” she concluded the post, “but it felt so damn good… forgive me father.”
On Sunday, Nov. 30, Spears edited her caption, making it much shorter: “I felt pretty in that bathing suit 👙🌹🤷🏼♀️ … psss gotta find those Mary Jane shoes,” she wrote in the updated caption.

Spears’ latest Instagram post comes after she returned to Instagram earlier this month. She had deactivated her account on Nov. 2 amid a public dispute with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, over his memoir You Thought You Knew.
The apparent deactivation followed fan concern over Spears sharing dancing videos but opting to turn off comments on posts with cryptic captions about her kids, Jayden James, 19, and Sean Preston, 20.
A representative for Spears responded to Federline’s memoir and the allegations in a statement shared with PEOPLE on Oct. 14.
“With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin,” said Spears’ rep. “All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir.”
