Bella Thorne is sharing her thoughts on expanding her family.
The Shake It Up alum, 28, recently chatted with Entertainment Tonight at The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment Gala, where she opened up about potentially starting a family with her fiancé Mark Emms.
“I just directed a movie that I wrote,” she said in response to the question, before adding, “So, I think I think that’s my baby currently and I’m in editing.”
Emms and Thorne met on a beach in Ibiza in August 2022 where they mingled all night during Cara Delevingne’s birthday party. “It was love at first sight as the sun rose,” the Rumble Through the Dark actress told Vogue in May 2023.
PEOPLE confirmed the two were dating in September 2022, after photos showed them kissing on a yacht in Mykonos, Greece.
“It’s new, and they’re having fun,” a source close to the couple told PEOPLE at the time. “They’ve been dating for about a month.”
Thorne went Instagram official with Emms on Valentine’s Day in 2023, posting a sweet picture of the couple sharing a candy necklace Lady and the Tramp-spaghetti-scene style.
“Find someone u want to share ur candy with 😍,” she wrote in the caption. “Ps.this sexy tall British man is mine so get yah own cuz I feel like kickin Ass today.”
They got engaged nine months later, and have been planning their wedding since. Thorne told PEOPLE in December 2023 that ever since getting engaged, the couple’s relationship has only “gotten heightened,” and that every day they “draw closer.”
“It’s really like, ‘Oh wow, we’re really, you’re my partner.’ Let’s do this together,” she said. “So that kind of becomes more real every day, and kind of solidifies our partnership more and more every day.”

She added that even though the two were “definitely very much past” the honeymoon phase in their relationship, they were still learning more about each other and growing together.
Two years after Emms proposed to Thorne in May 2023, the actress got down on one knee herself in August 2025. She popped the question surrounded by candles and flowers.
In an August 2025 video posted to Instagram, Thorne can be seen getting down on one knee in what appears to be the couple’s home, where they’re surrounded by flowers, heart-shaped balloons and candles.
“3 years ago we met, 1 year later he proposed, Now 1 year later so did I 🥴❤️,” Thorne wrote in her caption.
Later on her Instagram Stories, Thorne replied to fan reactions surrounding her engagement.
“The comments on my post are hilarious!!” she wrote. “Totally split down the middle. Half of u are like let’s not normalize proposing to your partner — other half is like f— yeah girl power this is the sweetest!!”
