While fans of Batman may be waiting for a few years to see the hero return on the big screen, his next feature debut is actually due to arrive much sooner. Currently, the DCU‘s Batman story, The Brave and the Bold, is without a release date as James Gunn waits to greenlight the right script.
Meanwhile, The Batman Part II from director Matt Reeves is still years out with a 2027 release date. However, this is not to say that the character won’t be arriving in any other projects along the way, as one impending 2025 film proves.
Batman’s Next Movie Is Currently Weeks Away
The next upcoming Batman movie is due to debut in the US on September 19, 2025, meaning it’s currently just six short weeks away from releasing.
Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires is a unique take on the character which focuses on the ancient Aztec empire and follows a young man named Yohualli Coatl who dons the iconic cowl. This story is a departure from the traditional Bruce Wayne and Gotham formula for the character, but it also has a lot in common with the familiar concept.
Yohualli loses his father in a brutal murder, and seeks to train himself to become a dark avenger. He prepares to liberate his people from the threat of Spanish invaders, while several familiar faces draw connections to the well-known Batman stories.
Batman Has A Lot Of Movies On The Way In The Next Few Years
Aztec Batman is not the only release about the Dark Knight on the horizon, as there are a handful of other Batman projects on the way that will expand the world of Gotham. The next of these films is Clayface, which will feature an iconic Batman rival as soon as 2026 in a DCU feature film that is now in the early stages of production.
The Batman Part II will debut in cinemas in 2027, expanding Matt Reeves’ compelling Batverse as it exists in the Elseworlds. This could also tie in with further seasons of The Penguin, though it’s unclear if the show set in the same universe will continue, and if there will be any other spinoffs.
There is also news of a Dynamic Duo movie due to come out in 2028, which will focus on Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, two of Batman’s trusted allies who took on the role of Robin.
Beyond this, there are other animated projects on the way, including Batman: Caped Crusader season 2, and likely more crossover with Batman characters in Creature Commandos season 2, after the first season featured characters like Clayface and Doctor Phosphorus. Evidently, there is a lot to come from Batman over the next few years, both on the big and small screens.
