Bad Bunny revealed why the U.S. wasn’t on his list of world tour dates.
In an i-D cover story published on Wednesday, Sept. 10, the “NUEVAYoL” musician, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, spoke about his decision to skip heading to the States for his Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour.
“There were many reasons why I didn’t show up in the U.S., and none of them were out of hate — I’ve performed there many times,” Bad Bunny, 31, told the publication. “All of [the shows] have been successful. All of them have been magnificent.”
He added: “I’ve enjoyed connecting with Latinos who have been living in the US, but specifically, for a residency here in Puerto Rico, when we are an unincorporated territory of the US… People from the US could come here to see the show.”
Bad Bunny noted that “Latinos and Puerto Ricans of the United States could also travel here, or to any part of the world.”
“But there was the issue of—like, f—ing ICE could be outside [my concert]. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about,” he said, appearing to refer to President Donald Trump’s use of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) ongoing immigration crackdown.

In June, Bad Bunny took aim at ICE in a now-deleted Instagram Story after appearing to witness an immigration raid, per Rolling Stone.
“Those motherf—ers are in these cars, RAV-4s,” he said in a clip, speaking in Spanish over footage of law enforcement appearing to take people in Puerto Rico. “They came here… Sons of bitches, instead of letting the people alone and working.”
Bad Bunny kicked off his 30-night residency No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico on July 11, which will conclude on Sept. 14.
On Nov. 21, he will kick off his Debí Tirar Más Fotos tour in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic before heading to Latin America through late February.
Bad Bunny will travel to several cities next spring in Europe, Sydney, Australia, and Tokyo. He’s also slated to perform eight shows at Mexico City’s Estadio GNP Seguros and will play 10 shows in Madrid in June.
