Happy 11-year wedding anniversary to Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross!
Simpson recently launched her I Am Me residency at the Venetian Resort’s Voltaire nightclub and performed her second show on Saturday, Aug. 30 — a.k.a. her and Ross’ anniversary. So, they got to mark the occasion in Sin City.
“We’re definitely going to celebrate that night, and we have the family coming,” she tells PEOPLE ahead of her Aug. 29 opening night in this week’s issue. “After the show, it’ll be all about us.”

After more than a decade of marriage, what’s the rule that keeps them going?
“I think we’re just very open and honest,” says Simpson. “I mean, we’re best friends and I think that that is what keeps our relationship strong.”
“We continue to grow together,” adds the “Pieces of Me” singer. “And as we change or do different things in our lives, we meet each other at that place and at that level.”
The pair, who’s raising three kids together — daughter Jagger, 10, and son Ziggy, 4, plus son Bronx, 16, whose father is her ex, Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz — has collaborated on music in the past, and Ross was present for Simpson’s Las Vegas rehearsals.
“Evan’s never seen me do a whole set,” she says. “He is like, ‘Whoa, I’m seeing a different you.’ And for me, that’s really fun.”
When they’re not together, the couple remains in especially close contact. “I think it’s shocking to people how much we call each other in a day,” details Simpson. “He just was away filming a movie in Arkansas. We were still on the phone every two seconds.”

Given Simpson and Ross’ backgrounds in entertainment, she feels it’s “definitely” possible some of their kids will follow in their parents’ footsteps.
“Bronx is great as a guitar and writing songs. It’s very impressive. He’s always in his room, and he’s brilliant,” she explains. “That reminds me of me when I was 16, loudly playing in my room.”
Jagger, on the other hand, is “making videos and singing and dancing every day,” says Simpson. “And who knows what Ziggy will be and who knows what any of them will be? But I’m open to all things.”
