Anna Faris approves of her stepdaughter’s Halloween tribute to Scary Movie.
Released in 2000, the first of the Wayans brothers’ Scary Movie franchise parodied popular horror, including Faris’ memorable spoof of Drew Barrymore’s Scream opener.
For Halloween this year, the 48-year-old actress’ stepdaughter Margot Barrett, 22, put her own spin on it.
On TikTok, Margot lip-synced along to the original audio to recreate the scene, in which a killer wearing a Ghostface mask breaks into her home and calls Cindy Campbell (Faris) on the phone.
The proud stepmom reposted the reenactment on Instagram on Sunday, Nov. 2.
Her embodiment of Cindy — Faris’ recurring character in the first four Scary Movie films — earned high praise from her stepmom, who wrote, “My hysterical stepdaughter.”
Margot is the daughter of Faris’ husband, cinematographer Michael Barrett. Faris met husband Michael, who has two children from a previous marriage, on the set of 2018’s Overboard. They got engaged in 2019 and eloped two years later.
The actress, who shares son Jack, 13, with ex-husband Chris Pratt, previously reflected on how she bonded with her stepchildren, admitting that it wasn’t easy at first.
Speaking with PEOPLE in 2022, Faris said she “felt very immature” when she first started spending time with Barrett’s kids. “I wanted to be a kid like them,” she said. “I was listening to music so loudly, I was embarrassing them. I was always like, ‘Why don’t they like me?’ ”
But over time, they have bonded, she said. “I have this special place in their life where I just get to be supportive,” said Faris. “And I have been really working hard on that.”
Margot is also featured in the actress’s latest post prior to the Scary Movie homage. On Sept. 4, Faris shared a photo of her “brilliant stepdaughter” to wish her a happy birthday.

Faris’ last post before that? A joint post with Marlon Wayans and Regina Hall teasing a sixth Scary Movie in August.
Hall, 54, starred in the original 2000 movie — which spoofed Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer — as Brenda Meeks. Marlon, 53, also starred along with brother Shawn Wayans, 54. The sibling duo also co-wrote and produced the first two movies, which their brother Keenen Ivory Wayans, 67, directed.

In October 2024, Marlon announced that he and Shawn would return for a sixth installment along with Keenen.
Faris previously told PEOPLE she would reprise her role under two conditions: “money” and Hall. “I would love to work with Regina again,” the actress said in July 2024. “I just love her so much. We would make each other giggle all day long. Regina Hall would be my answer.”
“And money,” she added at the time. “But mostly all Regina!”
Scary Movie 6 is in theaters June 2026.
