Amanda Seyfried has nothing but praise for her The Housemaid costar Sydney Sweeney.
The Long Bright River star, 39, reveals at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival on Monday, Oct. 27 that she and Sweeney, 28, have grown close and even have a text chain together.
“I think she’s beautiful and fun,” Seyfried tells PEOPLE of the Euphoria star. “And we definitely love what we do, and we love the project so much, so it’s infectious. We saw the movie and we both loved it.”
Not only are the pair sharing the screen in their upcoming film, but they are also each starring in independent films premiering at similar times. Seyfried is starring in The Testament of Ann Lee while Sweeney is the lead in Christy, a biopic about former professional boxing star Christy Martin.

“We were just together last week because we’re doing a lot of promotion for The Housemaid movie,” Seyfried explains. “It’s really crazy timing.”
“Our independent movies are premiering the same day, within hours of each other,” she adds.

In The Testament of Ann Lee, Seyfried stars as Shakers founder Ann Lee, “one of the most important religious figures in pre-Revolutionary America.” The film follows “the profound childhood and early adult traumas that impacted her psychology and shaped her influential religious views,” according to a synopsis.
The Mamma Mia! Star previously revealed to PEOPLE that she was “nervous about portraying somebody who had that kind of power” and tapping into the grief that Lee had in losing her four children.
“It’s incredibly hard to channel that kind of grief when that is your biggest fear, for sure,” Seyfried explained. “But what I did, what I think really helped … is that I was honoring everybody who had lost and honoring that grief which made Ann, then brought her to her knees.”
Seyfried has been promoting The Testament of Ann Lee alongside her forthcoming film with Sweeney — the psychological thriller The Housemaid, which is an adaptation of Freida McFadden’s 2022 hit novel.
In the film, Seyfried and Sweeney star as Nina, a wealthy housewife, and Millie, their live-in housemaid, respectively. President of production for the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Erin Westerman described the actresses as “perfect” for the opposing parts.
