NEED TO KNOW
Allison Williams says her “secret” wedding wasn’t actually so secret.
Back in June, PEOPLE confirmed that the Girls star, 37, had quietly tied the knot with German actor Alexander Dreymon. The news comes shortly after Williams referred to Dreymon, 42, as her “husband” in a profile in The Guardian.
Now, the actress is addressing the surprise news in a new interview.
While chatting with Entertainment Tonight at the Los Angeles premiere of her latest movie, Regretting You, on Monday, Oct. 20, Williams said she and Dreymon were “never hiding” the fact that they got married.
“We never were hiding it or keeping it a secret. No, we just didn’t make a press release about it,” she explained.

In fact, she revealed, the two were openly sporting wedding rings before the news broke.
“If you go back on [the photo agency site] Getty, we were wearing wedding bands for a while before. People just … You gotta look closer, guys,” she quipped.
Dreymon joined his wife at Monday’s premiere, and the two posed for photos together on the red carpet. Williams gushed to ET that The Last Kingdom star looked “so handsome” for the occasion.
The pair first met on the set of Horizon Line, where they played an on-screen couple. After sparking chemistry while filming together, they began dating at the end of 2019.
In November 2021, they welcomed a baby named Arlo, though the news of their son’s birth was not revealed until months later, in April 2022.

Two days after Williams and Dreymon made their red carpet debut as a couple at the L.A. premiere of her horror comedy film M3GAN on Dec. 7, 2022, Dreymon posted a few photos from the event on Instagram — and confirmed their engagement by referring to Williams as his “fiancée.”
“Premiere of M3GAN with a screaming, laughing, cheering crowd. It’s the ultimate fun scarefest. I’m so proud of my gorgeous fiancée,” he wrote at the time.
In a conversation with Andrew Rannells for Interview magazine, published on Oct. 20, Williams shared some insight into her relationship and family life with Dreymon, revealing that she has drawn marriage inspiration from another Hollywood star, Julia Roberts.
Rannells, 47, asked Williams how long she was away from Dreymon and son Arlo while filming Regretting You in Atlanta earlier this year.

“This whole year has been a lot of us working and coming back and forth to see each other. We have a two-week limit,” she replied.

Rannells then interjected: “I believe that’s called the Julia Roberts rule. That’s her rule with [her husband] Danny Moder.”
Williams was seemingly pleased to learn of the rule’s supposed origins, telling her former Girls costar: “Well, they seem sexy and happy, so I’m into it.”
