During a January 2012 conversation with WOUB local media outlet, the musical duo explained that they met when Dun filled in during a show, after being introduced by the band’s previous drummer.
“After the show, we talked about our dreams and goals, not only within music, but in life, and we just connected,” the frontman said of Dun. “We had the same amount of passion and it just worked out perfectly.”
In 2017, the band received their first Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Stressed Out.”

In January 2020, Dun shared several photos from the event on Instagram, though didn’t confirm it was her wedding at the time. “got all dressed up and closed out the decade with family and friends ✨,” she wrote.

She explained to the outlet that while they originally intended to take their time with wedding planning, until her former costar Cameron Boyce’s death changed her mind.
“When he passed, it really rocked me and put a lot of things in perspective,” the actress told the outlet. “It didn’t feel important to wait anymore, to stop being busy, or for things to line up perfectly — intending to do things is not nearly as powerful as doing, as we aren’t promised tomorrow.”
Reflecting on their special day, Dun told Vogue that it was the “perfect balance.”
“I felt like it was game night at our house, and this was the ultimate game, and boy, did I win!” he said. “I remember every detail from how it felt to be walking down the aisle to the full-body chills I got watching Debby walk down toward me.”
