Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo have filed a motion to strike parts of a lawsuit filed against them by their former decorator after she alleged she was injured at their home.
Following the alleged March 2023 incident, Shana Kallen filed an initial complaint against Levine, 46, and Prinsloo, 37, in May 2024. In the complaint, Kallen alleged that she fell off a ladder while trying to get down from the roof at their Montecito, Calif., home and suffered a traumatic brain injury, according to legal documents obtained by PEOPLE.
At the time, Kallen was invited into the couple’s home to provide decorating services, which included the placement of plants, trees, flowers and planters, inside and outside of the property.
In December 2025, Kallen filed a second amended complaint that Levine and Prinsloo are now claiming “improperly pled punitive damages” against them, according to their motion to strike filed on Tuesday, Jan. 20, and obtained by PEOPLE.

In the filing, the singer and the model are requesting parts of Kallen’s most recent complaint alleging negligence to be striked, as they claim they’re “boilerplate allegations that do not rise to the level of malice, fraud, or oppression required in order to sustain a claim for punitive damages.”
They deny any malicious claims and instead claim the accident was a result of, at most, “passive negligence.”
Kallen also requested more than $25,000 in general damages in her December complaint.
In addition to requesting the punitive damages be thrown out, Levine and Prinsloo are asking to strike Kallen’s request for “an award of future medical costs” that’s stated as $3 million to $4 million in her recent complaint.
The filing claims that Kallen’s allegations, including Prinsloo and Levine acted with “reckless disregard” for her safety and with “malice” are insufficient. The couple is requesting that the punitive damages be thrown out, while also claiming that the award of future medical damages to Kallen is prohibited by civil code.

In her December complaint, Kallen claims the fall from the ladder caused her head and body “to violently strike the concrete ground,” leading her to be in a coma for two days and later undergo a craniectomy.
Kallen alleges she was left with “significant” injuries as a result of the accident, such as the “diminishment” of her hearing and eyesight, which led her to require hearing aids for both ears and prism glasses. Her lasting injuries have also resulted in the “suspension of her driver’s license, reduction in life span, and other damages to her body and health,” per the complaint.
PEOPLE has reached out to Kallen’s attorney.
According to property records, Behati and Prinsloo purchased their Montecito home for $52 million in 2022, and sold it for $60 million in October 2025.
They initially listed the home for $65 million in July 2025, PEOPLE previously reported.
