NEED TO KNOW
Kate Gosselin’s international travels took a turn over the weekend.
The Jon & Kate Plus 8 alum, 50, took to her TikTok page on Saturday, Jan. 17, to document the aftermath of an alleged robbery at a local grocery store. In the video, Gosselin claimed that a man was attempting to steal a “trolley” full of items when a group of shoppers intervened.
“You should see all the Kiwi men running after him, trying to stop him,” she said from behind the camera. “Everybody’s on their phone to the police. It’s a big deal here, because honestly guys, there’s not much crime here.”
“The guy ran past us and lost his shoe,” she continued. “He literally pushed past me, almost knocked me down in my lack of walking state.”
Gosselin has been recovering from a ”life-altering” leg injury she suffered while playing with her dog, Meika in September 2025. On Wednesday, Jan. 14 — 82 days after the incident — she revealed that she walked for the first time without assistance while out in New Zealand.
“He almost knocked me down,” Gosselin continued in her video. “He ran past me, and I’m just now starting to walk. I had an injury, so I can just now walk, and it sent me off my feet for a second.”
The former reality star also shared that her boyfriend, Steve Neild, was there helping.
“I love that Steve turns right back into a cop on a moments notice ♥️,” she wrote over the screen.

As patrons passed by, Gosselin explained the situation, stating, “In America, they would have just let him go.”
“Oftentimes, [people] don’t pitch in and they don’t try to stop it. It’s so refreshing to see. There was like six or eight of them that went flying after him,” she said, adding that she kicked away the shoe the alleged thief lost while leaving the store to “slow him down.”
“Good job guys,” she shouted as several people brought the shopping carts back toward the store.
Before ending the video, Gosselin revealed that while she initially thought the alleged thief was apprehended, he and another person actually fled in a car. However, she was told by someone who appeared to be a store employee that several people wrote down the license plate to give to the police.
“It’s so cool that they went after him,” she reiterated.
