Courtney Stodden’s honeymoon almost turned into an annulment.
The former Celebrity Big Brother star, 31, announced her marriage to Jared Safier in early December 2024. To mark their first wedding anniversary on Instagram last month, Stodden made a lengthy marriage confession in which she revealed a wedding-night fight with her husband.
Sharing “the raw unfiltered truth” alongside a black-and-white wedding photo on Dec. 2, Stodden admitted she “almost ran away” the night she married Safier, 43. At the time, the pair were “emotional, overwhelmed, and far too drunk,” which led to a simple “misunderstanding” turning into a huge “fight.”

“Outside voices added fuel, and everything spiraled faster than either of us meant it to,” she wrote.
“In the chaos of the moment, he left because he truly believed space was the right choice — And so I spent our honeymoon night alone in the bridal suite, wrapped in silence that brought back every old wound from being married at sixteen. The fear. The abandonment. The panic that history was repeating itself,” continued Stodden, who first married actor Doug Hutchison in 2011 at 16 years old, and divorced him in 2020.
Although the heated argument “shook” Stodden to her core and she “felt like dying,” she decided not to run, and instead wait to work out their issues and “rebuild” their relationship — a decision she’s “grateful” for because she’s confident their love is mutual.
“This hasn’t been easy for either of us,” she shared. “We walked into marriage carrying childhood scars, complicated family dynamics, and expectations neither of us knew how to hold. We have been working on rebuilding; rebuilding safety, rebuilding connection… all while learning who we are as husband and wife.”
Even though the couple is already a year into their marriage, they’re still actively working on being better partners.
“We are learning to communicate. Learning to love better. We are learning to choose each other even when it hurts. And we are still learning… A LOT!” Stodden wrote. “Maybe love isn’t perfect, but honest. Maybe love isn’t the fairytale. Maybe it’s two flawed people fighting to be seen, even after the hardest beginning.”
She continued, “Here’s to surviving year one. Here’s to staying when it would’ve been easier to run.
And here’s to walking into year two with hopefully more softness, more grace, and a love that we both deserve 🥹.”

Exclusively speaking to PEOPLE in October 2025, Stodden shared that she was enjoying married life this time around, and even went as far to say that Safier saved her from suicide.
“He did save me from trying to un-alive myself,” she said at the time. “This is when we were kind of dating, and after that, I looked at him and I thought, ‘Maybe this is my husband, if he’s saving me from such moments.’ ”
She added, “I felt safe with him. He’s just always there, no matter what, and I find that very strange, because I’m used to gaslighting.”
Stodden then noted that like any relationship, hers isn’t always perfect.
“It all hasn’t been easy, trust me,” she said. “It’s been challenging on both of our parts. We did get married quite quickly. I’m doing the best I can.”
