NEED TO KNOW
Ashley Tisdale didn’t mince words when she penned her divisive essay for The Cut about leaving her allegedly toxic mom friend group.
The actress, who first opened up about the topic in a candid blog post titled “You’re Allowed to Leave Your Mom Group,” shared more about her choice to break-up with her “toxic” mom friends in a now-viral personal essay for The Cut. Tisdale wrote that the group felt like “mean” girls and said it was “too high school” to remain in.
Although she did not identify the members of her former friend group, internet sleuths were quick to speculate that Tisdale was talking about her former group of celebrity mom friends, including Mandy Moore, Hilary Duff, Meghan Trainor, Gaby Dalkin and others.
But the group doesn’t just include those four — there are several other moms in the tight-knit group. Below, meet more members of the mom group and read what they’ve said about their relationships.

Hilary Duff
Back in December 2024, the Lizzie McGuire star, 38, spoke with PEOPLE about her group of famous mom friends, saying that she leans on them “all the time” for support. At the time, she also said that she hangs out with them about “two to three times a week” for different activities with their kids.
In the same interview, Duff said that the friends have been able to stay close.
“I feel like our big connection to one another, even though we’re pop stars or on TV, is we love our kids,” explained Duff. “They were little baby worms when we all first got together and started music class at my house. Now, we’re in art class together, and we’re in gymnastics class together, and we’re just, like, moms.”
“Everybody’s super hardworking,” she added. “Sometimes we’re all showing up with hair and makeup rushing from a job, and sometimes we look like literal trash, so it’s just nice to be in the trenches with them.”
Duff and her husband Matthew Koma even took in Mandy Moore’s family after their home was affected during the Los Angeles wildfires in 2025. Moore’s brother-in-law, Griffin Goldsmith, revealed in an Instagram post that the actress, her husband and their three kids were staying with Duff’s family.
“Our dear friends @matthewkoma and @hilaryduff thought it wise to set up a gofundme for us to help with everything moving forward,” the musician, who also lost his home, wrote. “Not to mention they are currently housing my brother’s family. They’ve taken care of my entire family from the moment this began. I will never be able to thank them adequately.”
“This is the kindest act any human could do for another,” he added. “They are the most beautiful, selfless people we’ve ever known.”
While Tisdale’s rep denied that she was alluding to Duff and her group of mom friends to TMZ, Tisdale has unfollowed Duff on Instagram; Duff also does not follow Tisdale.

Mandy Moore
In 2022, Moore spoke about being proud to be a part of Duff’s “cool mom group” while speaking to InStyle.
“Hilary is the coolest, and she is a super-mom. She and Matt [Koma] have become really close friends with my husband [Taylor Goldsmith] and I,” said Moore at the time. “But they have a kid who’s six weeks younger than Gus. And so, we had babies at the same time and she, being the super-mom that she is, formed a cool mom club.”
“Somehow, I got invited into it and it’s the best,” Moore continued. “I’ve made so many wonderful friends. We all just gathered earlier this week and had dinner and we have baby classes together and it’s incredible.”
Last year, Moore spoke to PEOPLE about her close friendship with fellow mom group member Gaby Dalkin. At the time, Moore said Dalkin was her “first call” for “just about everything.”
“I would say she’s my first call for just about everything, whether it’s like, ‘Do we like this outfit?’ ‘Where’s a fun vacation spot we can all go to?’ ‘What’s the best cake decorator in Los Angeles?'” Moore told PEOPLE at the time. “I feel like the friendships that I’ve been since becoming a mom are deeper than anything I ever expected and I’m so, so, so unendingly grateful for.”
In the same interview, Moore also commented on the importance of having a mom group.
“I think moms have to lean on each other. Nobody gets it like another mom,” she said. “So that’s why it’s been such a gift to be able to lean on my friends in this particular mom squad. I think we all kind of have this shared goal of caring about new and expecting parents and, in particular, being able to talk about everything, but also the health of our kids. Nothing matters more.”
While Tisdale’s rep denied to TMZ that Moore is one of the mom’s she was referring to in her essay, Tisdale no longer follows Moore on Instagram. The Tangled actress does still follow the Phineas and Ferb star, though.

Meghan Trainor
In January 2025, Trainor told PEOPLE that her mom friend group had an on-going texting chat.
“I do have a great group chat with my other mom friends, like Hilary Duff and Mandy Moore and Ashley Tisdale and those friends — that’s a great group chat, but none of them are on tour right now,” said Trainor, who was reflecting on her Timeless Tour. “I’m the one that’s always like, ‘Can’t make it, sorry guys.’ So I wish I had a touring chat group.”
However, according to TMZ, Tisdale’s rep denied that Trainor is one of the moms she was referring to. Tisdale and Trainor still follow one another on Instagram.
Janice Gott
Janice Gott, the founder of Muu Everyday, is another member of the mom group. Gott is a mom of two.
Tisdale still follows Gott on Instagram.

Dalkin and her daughter Poppy can be seen enjoying time in Mexico with Moore and her family of five on Instagram.
Kelsey Deenihan
Kelsey Deenihan, who is a celebrity makeup artist, is also frequently included in photos and posts with the celebrity mom group. She’s also often credited for Duff and Moore’s makeup looks.
