NEED TO KNOW
Breaking Amish alum Jeremiah Raber is sharing an update on his health.
In a post on TikTok on Dec. 30, Raber, 45, wrote that he was “waiting to be life flighted to another hospital” alongside a selfie of himself in a hospital bed.
According to the reality TV personality, he had a blood sugar level of 993 — which is very high and life-threatening, as normal non-diabetic blood sugar levels are often around 100 after fasting, according to the Mayo Clinic — and had “possible liver failure.”
Another TikTok post shared the next day showed Raber being taken onto a helicopter on a stretcher, and he shared an additional selfie video from a hospital bed.
In an update on Jan. 2, Raber thanked his followers for their prayers and wrote, “I’m doing good and will be out tomorrow!”

Raber has previously been candid about his health struggles. In April 2024, he shared that he spent two days in the hospital for heart issues, as well as diabetic ketoacidosis, per InTouch Weekly.
According to the Mayo Clinic, diabetic ketoacidosis is a potentially life-threatening condition that can develop when the body can’t make enough insulin.
“Without enough insulin, the body begins to break down fat as fuel. This causes a buildup of acids in the blood,” the clinic states. “Those acids are called ketones. If it’s not treated, the buildup can lead to diabetic ketoacidosis.”

Raber joined the cast of Breaking Amish for season 1 in 2012 and later returned for several seasons of Return to Amish. The original series followed young Amish and Mennonite adults as they left their traditional and insular culture to experience the modern world for the first time.
Known as one of the most rebellious of the Breaking Amish cast and the oldest at 32 years old at the time, Raber has been open about his financial struggles.
In a March 2024 TikTok video, he thanked fans for donating to help him “get enough money to go to the doctor for my heart issue and stuff.”
“Hopefully soon I’ll be at the doctor’s and getting it checked out,” he explained, per InTouch. “I appreciate it more than you’ll ever know.”
In 2016, he married Carmela Raber. She filed a restraining order against him in April 2022, per E! News and InTouch, and he confirmed they were no longer together in an Instagram post just weeks later.
The former reality star has previously shared that he is living in a camper van and has been traveling around the U.S. He has three children from a previous marriage.
