It’s tiiiime (cue Mariah Carey) to dim the lights, fluff the blankets and settle in for the coziest movie marathon of the year — because Hulu and Disney+ are delivering a sleigh-load of holiday favorites.
This year, the streamers have added a number of festive films to their rosters, including everything from magical animated adventures like A Christmas Carol and The Polar Express to nostalgic classics like the Home Alone and The Santa Clause franchises.
There are even a few brand-new gifts under the streaming tree — including Chad Michael Murray’s Joy to the World, A Very Jonas Christmas Movie and Kevin Costner Presents: The First Christmas — which are all ready to make movie nights extra merry.

Joy to the World

In Joy to the World, which premiered on the streamers on Nov. 1, Joy Edwards (Emmanuelle Chriqui) has built an empire teaching the world how to host the perfect Christmas.
But when a TV crew shows up expecting to film her “perfect family holiday,” she panics. Why? Her picture-perfect husband doesn’t exist.
Cue Max Rocklin (Murray), her best friend and newly appointed stand-in spouse, who is way too good at playing the role. Between improvised backstories, on-camera cuddles and holiday hijinks, Joy’s carefully crafted image starts cracking, and her feelings for Max start showing.

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

With delays and detours threatening their plans, the brothers must lean on each other to make it home in time. Along the way, old sibling dynamics resurface, forcing the brothers to realize that no matter how crazy the holiday season gets, family is the true headliner of Christmas.

But things take a turn when two bumbling burglars, Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern), target the McCallister home. Using his sharp wit and a series of hilariously painful booby traps, Kevin defends his house and learns a few lessons about family, bravery and the true spirit of Christmas.
The original film was followed by a full franchise of sequels, including Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992), Home Alone 3 (1997), Home Alone 4: Taking Back the House (2002), Home Alone: The Holiday Heist (2012) and Home Sweet Home Alone (2021).

The Santa Clause movies

In The Santa Clause (1994), ordinary dad Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) accidentally startles Santa off his roof on Christmas Eve, killing him. When Scott puts on the red suit to finish the job, he unknowingly agrees to take over the entire operation.
As Scott slowly transforms into the new Santa (complete with a growing belly and a snowy-white beard), he must convince his skeptical ex-wife, his confused coworkers and even himself that the North Pole magic is real — all while trying to save Christmas for his son, Charlie (Eric Lloyd).
The film kicked off a beloved holiday franchise, followed by The Santa Clause 2 (2002) and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006).

The Ultimate Christmas Present
