NEED TO KNOW
The season 28 finale of The Voice will blend of exciting new music and feel-good nostalgia.
PEOPLE can exclusively reveal Neal Schon and Journey will take the stage during the season 28 finale of The Voice on Dec. 16. Sofronio Vasquez, who won on season 26, will also return for a special performance.
Schon — who’s the founding guitarist of the rock band — and Journey will perform a medley of the band’s great hits, including “Lights,” “Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’” and “Don’t Stop Believin’.”
Journey’s performance will be accompanied by coaches Michael Bublé, Snoop Dogg and Reba McEntire, as well as some season 28 fan-favorite artists. Viewers can also expect an epic guitar solo from Schon.
Meanwhile, Vasquez will sing his new song “Superman,” which was written by Bublé, his coach on The Voice, alongside Ross Golan, Maureen McDonald, Johan Carlsson and Peter Karlsson. The song drops on Dec. 16.
After winning season 26, Vasquez went on to tour nationwide. Most recently, he released two holiday duets with the Canadian crooner and David Foster.
Schon and Journey’s performance on The Voice comes after they announced their massive Final Frontier Tour across North America in 2026. In November, Schon, 71, described the tour as a “heartfelt goodbye to the fans who’ve been with us.”
“We’re pulling out all the stops with a brand-new production — the hits, the deep cuts, the energy, the spectacle. It’s a full-circle celebration of the music that’s brought us all together,” he said in a statement. “As its founding member, I carry the Journey torch to this day, wherever I go. The sentiment and spirit of the band will always remain.”

“While this marks a farewell to one powerful chapter of the Journey we’ve shared, I want everyone to know I’m not done. Music is still burning strong inside me, and there are new creative horizons ahead. This tour is both a thank you and the beginning of what’s next,” concluded his statement.
The tour will feature founder and guitarist Schon, keyboardist and backing vocalist Jonathan Cain, lead vocalist Arnel Pineda, keyboardist and vocalist Jason Derlatka, drummer and vocalist Deen Castronovo and bassist Todd Jensen.
Ahead of the season 28 finale, each coach chose one contestant from their team to advance to the finale. The contestants chosen are Aubrey Nicole, Aiden Ross, Jazz McKenzie and Ralph Edwards.
Although only four contestants have been officially announced, two additional singers still have a chance to join them, thanks to viewer votes. The two contestants will be revealed during the Dec. 15 episode.
The Voice finale will air on Dec. 16 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
