Dylan Efron is clearing up his brother Zac Efron’s viral reaction on Dancing with the Stars.
On Tuesday, Dec. 9, during an appearance on SiriusXM’s Smith Sisters Live, the Traitors winner, 33, admitted that he had a conversation with the High School Musical star, 38, after Zac was filmed commenting on his DWTS score.
“When your brother, Zac, was in the audience, there was a moment that went viral and there are two sides of the internet,” host Lauren Ashley Smith said, referring to a moment that took place on Nov. 18.
“Do you know what he said?” she asked before Dylan admitted to knowing about the moment in question, by clarifying if it was when Zac asked, “Is that a good score?”
Lauren said some wondered if Zac instead asked if Dylan’s score was the judges’ “high score.”

“I actually did speak to Zac about this ‘cause I was just saying it as, I thought it was funny, but then Zac was like, ‘Oh no, they’re misinterpreting it,’ ” Dylan said. “And I can’t remember what he was saying, but I think he said that he thought it was a really good dance, so he’s like, ‘Is that the highest score they would give?’ ”
Their SiriusXM conversation was in reference to Dylan and his partner, Daniella Karagach, getting the lowest score, a 27, during the season 34 semifinals on Nov. 18. That evening, the pair performed a Tango for a Prince-themed episode to the late legend’s 1984 hit “I Would Die 4 U.”

Zac sat in the audience with their mother, Starla Baskett, holding their 5-year-old sister, Olivia, on his lap. Cameras caught his reaction to his brother’s performance and viewers have been trying to read his lips ever since.
“So, I think he was more like, ‘That should have been higher,’ or something like that,” Dylan said of his older brother. “But I dunno, it was funny regardless because Zac got defensive. He’s like, ‘No, they misinterpreted what I meant.’ ”

Dylan and the Smith sisters all laughed together as Lauren recalled the “lip readers” being adamant about what they presumed the Iron Claw actor said. “Well, how do you know?” Lauren said in sync with one of her siblings, continuing to laugh.
“It’s also such a big brother thing to be like, ‘That’s all they gave?’ ” Mariah Smith added.
After the DWTS semifinals, the Traitors winner told Entertainment Tonight that having Zac in the audience that night was special for him. “I grew up watching him do stuff like this, so it’s full circle,” he said, adding, “Just looking over as my family’s there, my girlfriend. Seeing all of them together, it’s like, that’s my support. I love it.”
