NEED TO KNOW
Elle Fanning is dealing with a lot in Margo’s Got Money Troubles.
Rufi Thorpe’s bestselling novel has been adapted into an eight-episode series for Apple TV by David E. Kelley. Fanning, 27, is joined by the writer’s wife, Michelle Pfeiffer, as well as Nick Offerman, Thaddea Graham and Nicole Kidman, who also serves as executive producer.
On Tuesday, Dec. 9, the streamer unveiled the first official look at the upcoming series, which sees Fanning play the titular Margo, a college dropout and aspiring writer who is “forced to make her way with a new baby, a mounting pile of bills and a dwindling amount of ways to pay them.”
Pfeiffer, 67, stars as Margo’s mom, a former Hooter’s waitress, while Offerman, 55, plays her ex-pro wrestler father. In the photos, it’s clear that Margo is challenging her mom, as she lies on the floor of a baby store while heavily pregnant, and in another shot, lies with her head in her mom’s lap, looking distraught.

In another photo, Margo seems to turn to performing, as she’s wearing only a metallic bikini in one of the photos and has neon paint on her stomach.
The last photo the streamer shared is of Offerman in a boxing ring as fans gather around him.
Joining the streaming platform’s “premium, compelling drama and comedy series,” the series from A24 and Kidman’s production company, Blossom Films, is also described as a “bold, heartwarming, and comedic family drama.”

Marcia Gay Harden, Greg Kinnear, Michael Angarano, Rico Nasty and Lindsey Normington round out the star-studded cast.
Fanning told Deadline in December that she had “the most wonderful experience” making the show in Los Angeles with her costars — and getting to produce it alongside Kelley, 69, Kidman, 58, and Pfeiffer.
“I hope people really enjoy the show. It’s a family drama, but there’s also, again, it’s very heartwarming and Margo is such a hopeful character,” the actress said.

“She’s dealt these hardships in life, but somehow she always is able to overcome them,” Fanning said of the protagonist. “And I think she was really inspiring to play because of that and, and the world is just very specific and very fun.”
She also praised Thorpe’s original story, saying that the 2024 novel is “so brilliant and heartwarming.”
Margo’s Got Money Troubles premieres April 15, 2026 on Apple TV+.
