Family ties are strong for Chloë Grace Moretz and Michelle Pfeiffer.
The actresses return as a mother-daughter duo in the holiday comedy Oh. What. Fun. over a decade after portraying the same dynamic in Tim Burton’s 2012 Dark Shadows movie adaptation.
Moretz, 28, gushed about both films during the Oh. What. Fun. world premiere at Alice Tully Hall in New York City on Dec. 2. The If I Stay actress tells PEOPLE that the quirky vampire comedy is one of her “favorite” movies she’s worked on.
“Working with Michelle to begin with was incredible,” Moretz says. “Coming back for a part two, in a way of playing mother-daughter, was so exciting.”

Oh. What. Fun. is brimming with star power, as the seasoned actresses are joined on screen by Felicity Jones, Denis Leary, The Holdovers breakout Dominic Sessa, Eva Longoria, Maude Apatow and Danielle Brooks. The film is also soundtracked with new holiday covers from Fleet Foxes, Gwen Stefani and Sharon Van Etten.
The Amazon Prime Original feature centers on Pfeiffer’s character Claire Clauster and her matriarchal woes during the holiday season.
In the film, Claire attempts to rally her children — played by Moretz, Jones and Sessa — to nominate her for an annual Christmas contest put on by her favorite TV personality Zazzi Tims (Longoria).

Although the Scarface actress and Moretz depict a strained dynamic onscreen, they get along just fine in real life. In fact, Moretz is already looking for another opportunity to work with her onscreen mom.
“Hopefully we’ll get an Oh. What. Fun. 2, and we can see us play mother-daughter again,” she adds.
Since they last graced the screen together, the actresses have accomplished plenty in their careers. After her role in Dark Shadows, Moretz dominated the film scene in the mid 2010s, starring in Carrie (2013), If I Stay (2014) and Kick-Ass 2 (2013).
Pfeiffer took to the Ant-Man films as Janet Van Dyne, alongside Paul Rudd, and had memorable roles in 2017 films Murder on the Orient Express and Mother!

Working on Oh. What. Fun. got Moretz into the holiday spirit — and then some. She shares her favorite Christmas movies with PEOPLE, including Elf and Home Alone 2, because she “loves pigeons.”
“Family Stone is one I watch every year. I always watch that,” she adds. “A little bit sadder, but it has Diane Keaton, and that’s like everything you need in life.”
Oh. What. Fun. is now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
