NEED TO KNOW
Ernie Hudson never minds taking a quick trip down memory lane.
The actor, 79, who is a father of four adult children and husband to his wife of 40 years, Linda Kingsberg, famously portrayed Winston Zeddemore in the 1984 comedy film Ghostbusters and its sequels. And he’s always appreciative when he catches glimpses of the iconic movies on television.

“I’ll see a moment and I go, ‘Wow, I was young. That is proof. My God,” he says, laughing. “I don’t tend to revisit a lot of the stuff that I’ve done but occasionally [I will] if it comes on. I have three great grandkids so the last time I watched it was probably with them. I do still sing the song, though.”

Hudson, who is currently starring on CBS’s Blue Bloods spinoff series, Boston Blue, shared a few more of his “last”s with PEOPLE for One Last Thing:
Last obsession
I played Tetris for probably 20 years until I realized it was obsessive. That’s one reason I don’t drink or smoke. Because I know once something is in my head, I dream about it.
Last DIY project
I don’t even pretend to be handy. My wife has a tool belt, and I don’t feel guilty about it either. I’m like, “Oh, the light bulb is out. Want me to get the ladder for you?”

Last memorable fan encounter
My wife and I were walking to dinner, and this car was driving by, and he slammed on his brakes. The guy yelled out, “Ernie Hudson! You’re a legend!” Which means you’re old, I think.
Last time I danced
The last time I danced, I realized I can’t dance. It was at a premiere. Up until then I thought I could. But I was out of sync and trying to get it. I just thought, “Well, how long has this been going on?”
New episodes of Boston Blue premiere Fridays at 10/9c on CBS and are available to stream on Paramount+.
