She may be a West End girl, but Lily Allen celebrated Thanksgiving in New York City with Lena Dunham!
The pop star, 40, and Dunham, 39, enjoyed a Turkey Day dinner together at The Odeon restaurant and marked the occasion by wearing matching green baseball caps that read, “thanksgiving rejects.”
“Just a couple of Thanksgiving rejects who are thankful for self-expression, extra stuffing and you 🥹,” Dunham wrote in the caption of an Instagram post that featured a photo of the pair.
Fans were delighted by the thought of Allen and Dunham hanging out, and many shared comments on the post including, “literally the voices of a generation,” “thankful for this pairing” and “this crossover is everything.” Allen’s song “L8 CMMR” was notably included on the soundtrack of the second season of Dunham’s HBO series Girls.
Allen first included the photo in a roundup of snaps from her trip to New York, which she shared on Instagram on Nov. 27.
“Saw plays, saw Wicked, ate turkey, and pancakes, all in A NY Minute. Back in a bit,” the Grammy-nominated singer captioned the post.
Other photos in the star’s carousel included a visit to Golden Diner with indie rocker Girlpuppy (real name Rebecca Harvey) and playbills from the Broadway play Liberation and the Off-Broadway show Queens, as well as a shot of the Minnie Mouse balloon from the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Allen also included a cheeky reference to her new song “Madeline,” as she included a picture of a waiter holding out a tray of madeleine cookies at the French bistro Benoit.
The singer is fresh off the release of her fifth album West End Girl, which chronicles the demise of her marriage to Stranger Things star David Harbour.
The record — which Allen has said she considers “autofiction” — features scathing lyrics that paint a picture of whatever the opposite of wedded bliss is (including infidelity).
The pair were married for four years before sources confirmed to PEOPLE in February that they’d separated.
In a recent interview with British Vogue, Allen opened up about how the end of her marriage had impacted the making of the record.
“There are things that are on the record that I experienced within my marriage, but that’s not to say that it’s all gospel,” she said. “It is inspired by what went on in the relationship.”
Dunham, meanwhile, released the Netflix comedy series Too Much in July and is currently working on the romantic comedy Good Sex, set for release in 2027. In September, she announced she’ll release the memoir Famesick next year.
