Katherine LaNasa revealed how she plans to celebrate the end of filming The Pitt season 2.
LaNasa caught up exclusively with PEOPLE at Elle’s Women in Hollywood celebration in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Nov. 17. During the conversation, the actress, 58, shared that she marks the end of a season by heading to Las Vegas.
“I go to Vegas with the set designer,” LaNasa says. “I do. I go to Vegas and play poker with the set designer. That’s the truth. I play poker.”
LaNasa also shared that wrapping up the current season of the show feels decidedly bittersweet.

“I’m looking forward to the show coming out. I mean, I really enjoy making the show, [but] I’m a little sad for it to be over. We’re filming episode 12. We are gonna make 15, so we’re getting close to the end, but looking forward for everyone to see the new episodes,” she says.
The actress earned her first-ever Emmy nomination and win for her portrayal of the no-nonsense charge nurse Dana Evans in the hit HBO Max medical drama. While speaking to PEOPLE at the Elle event, she recalled the unforgettable moment when she accepted the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
“It was really stunning. It really took my breath away. I’ll never forget it. It was just a really magical, wild moment,” she remembers.

“I just found a picture recently,” she says. “It just showed up in my [Instagram] feed of me walking down the aisle to take my Emmy, and it’s the back of Sarah Paulson, who was like fully standing up … like you can tell that we’re just like locking eyes and friends and just that bond and that warmth, and her rooting for me and her being just so unabashedly excited for me. It was really touching. I think that’s a moment I’ll never forget.”
Prior to the win, LaNasa — who has appeared on such shows as Judging Amy, Two and a Half Men, Big Love and Satisfaction — told PEOPLE that she felt honored just to be nominated.
“I feel like I already won because you never un-become an Emmy-nominated actress,” she said. “It’s really a lovely stamp of approval from your peers.”

“It’s crazy. You stay on the sidelines for so much of your career, you don’t really ever expect to be one of the nominees,” she added. “To be one is really just delightful. I feel like I got a ticket to ride and I’m happy about it.”
The Pitt season 2 is set to be released on Jan. 8 on HBO Max.
