NEED TO KNOW
Kody Brown is ready to make amends.
In PEOPLE’s exclusive look at Sister Wives’ season 20 mid-season trailer, the family patriarch decides to apologize to exes Meri, Janelle and Christine, along with his current wife, Robyn. However, they are skeptical of his motives as they attempt to move on with their lives.
“After that whole experience in Coyote Pass, I want to set them free,” Kody explains, referring to the years-long end to the drama involving the sale of land which they bought when married.
During a conversation with husband David Woolley, Christine acknowledges that Kody “wants to extend an olive branch,” but also notes, “I need to know what the motive is.”
“I don’t have a lot of trust with Kody,” she admits.

“I am walking into an environment where trust has been killed,” Kody tells cameras before coming face-to-face with Christine and David.
Kody tells them: “Suck those beers down, because I got some fun stuff to share with you.”
Christine responds, “Now I’m nervous,” and further expresses her doubts about what Kody has to say. “As far as extending an olive branch, I think there’ll be hidden barbs in there.”
When Kody declares that he’s sorry “for saying I didn’t love you,” Christine doesn’t take it the way he expected.
“This is my husband here,” she says. “Why do you think this is appropriate?”
Janelle, who is shown with her friends celebrating “getting a new man,” appears to shares Christine’s reluctance to accept Kody’s apology. “Wow,” she exclaims.
Meanwhile, Meri introduces a love interest as well, gushing that she’s “so happy” when she’s around him.

“Ron is in town and I can’t help but smile,” she says. “I met Ron at a speed dating event.”
When it comes to her conversation with Kody, he reveals that he is “a little bit nervous thinking that it could go really, really wrong.”
“An apology is so needed here because this is still so toxic,” he shares with Meri, who asks, “Do you apologize that you are toxic to me?”
In her confessional, she slams her ex, saying: “His energy f—- with my energy.”
“You’ve got to stop with the apologize word,” she then tells him. “The more you use it, the more it feels insincere.”
The final apology goes to Robyn, who joined the sister wives in 2010 and is now in a monogamous relationship with Kody after his splits from his other three wives.
“We’ve had a hard run,” she says, growing teary-eyed. “I think I owe you an apology.”

The end of the trailer also offers a sneak peek at the cast’s one-on-one tell all interviews, which largely revolve around the sale of Coyote Pass.

Kody notes that they had “some agreement problems” along the way, and accuses Janelle of “trying to make a backdoor deal” that he didn’t think Meri knew about, but evidently, she was aware.
“I think Kody and Janelle were trying to kick me out,” she says, later admitting: “It was all about silencing me. So when they say, ‘Meri was stopping it,’ damn right I was.”

At one point, Robyn sobs as she reveals that she isn’t always on Kody’s side despite still being married to him: “I do not agree with things that he does. I do not agree with his attitudes.”
While talking to Christine, tell-all host Sukanya Krishnan says that Kody “regrets not apologizing for saying that you were not attractive,” which she admits “makes me mad.”
“If he ever says that to me, I will become unglued,” she adds.
The preview concludes with a bombshell statement from Kody, who declares, “Your wife’s having an affair and your other wife tells you. That’s my business!”
Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
