NEED TO KNOW
Cynthia Erivo is reuniting with a hat she lost nearly a year ago.
During the London premiere of Wicked on Nov. 18, 2024, the actress, 38, paired her black Schiaparelli gown with a dramatic, sculptural black hat. However, it seems the hat never made it out of the theater — at least, not with Erivo.
In a video shared on TikTok on Nov. 8, a fan named Clara shared an interaction between herself and the Wicked star on the street, during which she revealed that she found Erivo’s black hat all those months ago. “For real?” Erivo said as her jaw dropped. “You have the hat? Oh, my God!”
Pulling up a picture of the hat sitting on a table and another of herself wearing it on her head, Clara responded, “I have it in my house! I don’t have it on me.”
“May I have it back, please? I thought I had lost it forever,” Erivo said as her team enthusiastically approached to gather Clara’s contact information. “Oh my goodness, you’re a lifesaver.”

As for how Clara stumbled upon the hat in the first place? She explained in a separate TikTok video that she and a friend, who both live in Paris, were at the London premiere of Wicked last year and had gone back into the theater looking for some friends around 30 minutes after the film ended.
On her way in, Clara noticed that someone had left their hat behind and decided to take a picture of it.

Not knowing it was Erivo’s, she took the hat home before the staff at the theater could throw it away. And it wasn’t until she sent a picture of the accessory to another one of her friends that Clara realized who it actually belonged to.
“Two days ago, that was the first time that I’ve met her, and that’s literally it,” Clara explained of her now-viral interaction with Erivo. “I told her I have the hat, her team contacted me, and I think that’s it.”
“I kept the hat for a year and I just wanted to tell her myself and I didn’t know how to get a hold of her,” she continued before holding up a green and pink Wicked gift bag. “She’s getting the hat back today. I put it in this lovely bag and I’m giving it back.”
