NEED TO KNOW
Ariel Winter is mourning the death of her dog, Casper.
On Friday, Nov. 7, the Modern Family alum penned a heartfelt tribute to her Samoyed, which was accompanied by several photos of Casper throughout the years.
The 27-year-old actress said the past two weeks have been the “most heartbreaking weeks” of her life. “I lost my first baby and best friend Casper 💔,” she wrote of the first dog she ever got on her own. “He was the most special, funny, empathetic, loving, independent, sassy, clumsy and, of course, handsome good boi.”
She noted that she’ll “forever be grateful for the 11.5 years” they had together. “He LOVED kids, occasional mischief, a cold floor, walks, awoo-ing at you, photos of himself in his Christmas pjs, his dragon scarf, barking at the neighbor dogs, policing his younger siblings, fish, and a good inner ear scratch, but above all else he loved us more than anything.”
The actress said that his death “still feels so unreal.” “I keep thinking the hospital is going to call and tell me a miracle happened and i can pick him up and bring him home,” she added.

As she continued, Winter said she hopes “the rainbow bridge is a beautiful place filled with everything he loves and NO thunderstorms,” and that Casper is “happy and cozy there.”
“I hope with everything in me that i can see him again one day and let him know one last time just how much he meant to me and how he’ll always have a piece of my heart,” she wrote. “Rip Casper, the scawiest fwuffiest boi with da fwuffiest paws and best ears and big teefs and big tail and big heart🐾 we miss and love you so much buddy❤️🌈.”

Winter’s various photos included Casper playing with her five other dogs in the snow. Winter also has a black French bulldog named Rocco, a German Shepherd rescue named Chloe, a rescue named Cobey, and Cash and Cleo.
She also added photos of Casper dressed for Christmas, Halloween, Fourth of July and Easter, and included snaps of her and Casper cuddling one another, as well as a photo of Casper with her boyfriend, Luke Benward.
Benward, 30, also commented on Winter’s tribute, saying that Casper was funny, stubborn, sweet and “so special.”
“The only dog that would literally talk back to you when he didn’t want to do what you were telling him to do,” Benward wrote. “But he was so empathetic, he only ever came out of his cave if he wanted something usually pets or food OR if he felt like his momma needed him.”

Benward noted that Casper loved Winter — and people — so much. “Casper never met a person he didn’t love and never across a person who didn’t love him,” he wrote. “I am so lucky I was able to help raise that sweet boy for 6 years. He loved his momma more than anything.”
