Chip and Joanna Gaines’ daughter Ella is going to flex her design skills in an all-new Fixer Upper series!
The Magnolia Network founders are gearing up for the Dec. 9 release of their new show, Fixer Upper: Colorado Mountain House, which is the latest installment of their fan-favorite renovation franchise. The married duo will tackle their first Fixer Upper project outside of their home state of Texas, and they’re calling on their 19-year-old daughter to help get the job done.
In the trailer, the scene is first set with stunning snow-covered mountains, followed by lush trees panning onto the screen. Chip then says, “We are not in Waco anymore, are we?” referring to their home base where the couple built their Magnolia empire.
Joanna later adds of the undertaking, “This is our first out of Central Texas project. I want it to feel like something I put together for my family,” as their children walk into the frame. Along with Ella, the couple shares four more children: sons Drake, 20, Duke, 17, and Crew, 7, as well as another daughter named Emmie, 15.

After Joanna notes that the home is a tight space, and Chip agrees that “there’s a lot of work to be done,” a clip of Joanna and Ella walking towards a cottage on the property pans onto the screen.
“Chip had an idea to let our daughter design the little cottage,” Joanna says. As the mother-daughter duo enters the space, Ella looks around and says with a smile, “I’m accepting the challenge.”
This is not the first time the proud parents have stepped back and let their daughter make her own design decisions.
After Ella left for her first year of college in August, Joanna revealed she was not involved in any of the dorm decorating process during an Aug. 19 appearance on Today.
“She is very into design and she has her own, unique style, so I stepped back and I was like, ‘You show me what…’ and I let her do the whole thing,” Joanna said of Ella. “So, it was really what she wanted.”

During an interview with PEOPLE in 2019, Joanna opened up about some of her daughter’s passions, noting, “Ella is like me. I think she’ll follow in my footsteps and have her hand in a lot of things.”
She also previously shared how Ella served as a temporary intern on the Magnolia Team last summer while she and Chip took some time away from their business to refocus.

“One of my favorite moments that was so pivotal for me as a mother, but also as a business owner, was my daughter, my oldest daughter, was in on a lot of these conversations before our break in June, that I was having with the team,” Joanna shared on the Business of Home podcast in April.
“She was interning with me, so she’d be in these meetings where I was like, ‘Y’all, I need vision. Like, we need to get back to why we’re doing what we’re doing.’ And so she was listening and she was interested,” the mom of five continued.
