For Robert Pattinson, playing a father and actually being one are two very different concepts.
The Twilight star—who shares an 18-month-old daughter with fiancée Suki Waterhouse—admitted his approach to parenthood in real life is vastly different from that of his character, Jackson, in his new movie Die My Love.
“My character was pretty incapable of dealing with it,” he exclusively told E! News at the film’s New York City premiere Nov. 1. “I think I just enjoyed working with babies more. There’s something about it. Every time I see a baby now on the street, I’m like, ‘What’s up?’”
While being a dad may not come as naturally to the character of Jackson in the comedy-drama—which hits theaters Nov. 7—for Robert, 39, there was one similarity between himself and his onscreen counterpart.
“I had just become a father when I was shooting,” he explained, “and our baby in the movie is basically the same age for the majority of the movie that my daughter was in real life.”
