NEED TO KNOW
Cardi B is getting honest about her hair hygiene.
Recently, the “Hello” rapper, 33, went live on Instagram and let fans in on a little secret — she hasn’t washed her hair in months.
In a recorded clip of the livestream shared to X, the mom of three, who is welcoming her fourth child with her boyfriend, Stefon Diggs, said that she hasn’t “washed my s—” in around two or three months while sharing her plans to oil her scalp, wash her hair and braid it in the coming days.
“I probably got all types of roach eggs, mosquito eggs, everything in this,” she said as she tapped her head, which appeared to be covered with a wig cap.

Over the years, Cardi has been open about her hair journey. In 2021, she shared throwback photos to Instagram while clapping back at comments criticizing the look of her hair as someone who is “mixed” (Cardi was born to a mother from Trinidad and a father from the Dominican Republic).
“I been posting pics of my hair journey for years and being mixed don’t mean your hair is always long and curly, that wasn’t my case. Since I was a child I have problems with managing my hair and couple years ago I find different methods that work for me and look at my length now. They’ll try to make us believe our hair won’t grow this long it’s not true. A lot of hair products we used back then wasn’t good for our hair but that’s all we had to choose from also we couldn’t afford to get to the salon regularly, if at all.”
She continued: “I want women of color with tighter curl patterns to know that you don’t have ‘bad hair,’ There’s no such thing as bad hair, and ‘good’ hair don’t mean a certain texture. All hair is good.”
Cardi has shared her recipes for at-home hair products too. In 2022, she revealed that she washes her hair with boiled onion water, a tradition she says helped kickstart her “healthy hair growth journey.” She even let followers in on the all-natural mask treatment she used on her daughter Kulture, now 7.

A few months ago, Cardi’s wigs made headlines after she was questioned about her “real hair’ during her civil assault trial. On Aug. 26, she testified after being sued in 2020 by a security guard who claims the rapper assaulted her outside of a Beverly Hills medical office in 2018, per Rolling Stone.
In a similar vein to her outfit changes, the Grammy winner switched up her hairstyles with a number of wigs, such as a hairpiece styled in a black pixie cut with a fringe and one made to look like curled blonde hair. Following the conclusion of her trial on Sept. 2, Cardi made a comment about the many wigs that she sported in the courtroom.
“I’m telling you guys, when I say that my forehead is raw from changing all these wigs,” Cardi said in response, making reporters laugh. “Raw, raw, raw, raw.”
