Erin Napier is just as excited about fall as we are.
Best known for hosting the HGTV show Home Town alongside her husband, Ben Napier, the interior designer is no stranger to curating her home and closet to feel cozy, approachable, and totally warm (in more ways than one). That’s why PEOPLE jumped at the opportunity to chat with Napier about her top fall fashion and home finds — from the stylish shoes she wears constantly to the easy autumnal décor she keeps out until Thanksgiving.

Pottery Barn Set of 5 Faux Pumpkins & Gourds
Pottery Barn
When it comes to decorating for fall, Napier loves to accent her home with decorative pumpkins — but not the cookie-cutter options you may be thinking of. “We love the fairytale sort that are green or peach or covered in bumps,” she shares. “They hang around our doorsteps until Thanksgiving.”
This set of five pumpkins and gourds from Pottery Barn toes the line between classic and whimsical (and they’re artificial, so you don’t have to worry about them going bad).
Birch Lane Elsie 10-inch Lamp Shade
Wayfair
As for her favorite home décor trend of the season, Napier is “loving upholstered drum shades” — so much so that she recently hired a local seamster to create a “beautiful pleated Mughal floral shade with a little striped ruffle skirt.” If you’re not interested in going the custom route, add a splash of fall color to your space with this pleated option from Wayfair.
Better Homes & Gardens Emerson Curvy Accent Chair
Walmart
“Our keeping room beside the kitchen has two cozy, worn armchairs,” Napier says of her favorite corner of her home. “One is blue and white plaid, the other is a dark golden velvet… The fire is always burning on cold days in that room, and it’s the center of gravity in our house. We all wind up there.”
While it’s hard to replicate the comfort of a well-loved armchair, you can at least mimic the look with this golden velvet piece that “brought so much elegance and warmth” into one shopper’s living room.
Loloi Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines Area Rug
Amazon
Looking for a low-lift way to make a space feel fresh for fall? Napier says a new rug “does the trick.” This option by Loloi, made in collaboration with fellow HGTV star Joanna Gaines, has a gorgeous neutral pattern that will look at home during any season.
Village Candle Mulled Cider Scented Candle
Amazon
Napier also recommends candles for an easy room refresh, explaining, “I always prefer gourmand fragrances in the cold months.” This mulled cider option from Amazon is “perfect for creating a cozy atmosphere during crisp fall days,” according to one reviewer, and it has a burn time of up to 170 hours.
Amazon Essentials V-Neck Sweater
Amazon
“I am forever seeking the capsule wardrobe that does not make a statement,” Napier shares of her fall clothing lineup. One of her go-tos? Cotton sweaters in navy and ivory, like this V-neck option from Amazon with more than 2,700 five-star ratings.
She adds, “I am of an age now where I like clothes that feel like a seasonal uniform. Maybe that’s just part of raising young children and working, my brain feels chaotic, so my clothes are not.”
Sézane Léontine Jumper
Sezane
Another fall-friendly sweater Napier reaches for on repeat is the Léontine Jumper from Sézane. “It’s the perfect striped cotton sweater for autumn in the deep south,” she explains. “It’s not heavy or cumbersome. It’s a bit cropped and makes me feel put together.”
And if you’re someone who enjoys a nice blast from the past, Napier recommends thin cotton ribbed turtlenecks under overalls: “It feels like 1997 in the best way.”
Rothy’s The Double Bit Driver Loafer
Rothy’s
“I am wearing my colorful Rothy’s loafers constantly,” Napier says of her favorite shoes to reach for ahead of long days on her feet. “Everyone who knows me thinks I’m working for them because I can’t shut up about how much I love them. Also loving my colorful Merry People Bobbi Boots on worksites. Those two brands, I’m buying all of the colors!”
Hollister Faux Fur-Lined Faux Shearling Jacket
Hollister
While not exactly a trend, Napier can’t wait to wear the exact replica she had made of Penny Lane’s iconic coat from Almost Famous. “It is absolutely not a capsule piece; it makes a statement,” she shares.
Join the HGTV star in adding some star power to your everyday wardrobe with this similar faux fur-lined coat from Hollister that will “keep you extra warm on cold days,” per one shopper.
Lee Legendary 23-Inch Capri Jean
Amazon
How would Napier describe her ideal fall outfit formula? “Loose and soft sweater — a bit oversized — straight-leg jeans that stretch, showing a bit of ankle, a lug sole loafer, and Randolph P3 sunglasses (because it’s still like summer here),” she says.
