Kim Kardashian is giving Caitlyn Jenner credit for her role in keeping their family on the air.
During a taping for the Friday, Oct. 24, episode of The Graham Norton Show, the 45-year-old reality star and SKIMS founder spoke about her famous family’s early days filming Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
The reality series started in 2007, propelling the entire Kardashian-Jenner clan to impressive levels of fame and giving them the opportunity to build a business empire. The show aired through 2021 before transitioning into the family’s new Hulu series, The Kardashians, the following year.

Speaking to host Graham Norton during the taping, Kim explained that the show’s success and the public’s overwhelming interest in her family were surprising.
“We shot the pilot and had no idea what it would turn into, but 20 years on it is still going,” she admitted.
Of course, it can be difficult for a reality series to stay entertaining for years on end, especially when the focus is on one family.
Kim identified one moment in her family’s history that she said bought them several more seasons — Caitlyn’s transition in 2015.
Caitlyn, 75, announced her transition via the cover of Vanity Fair that June. She went on to sit for a revealing interview with Diane Sawyer and had her own reality series, I Am Cait.
“The shows write themselves. Once, when we wondered what might happen next my stepdad turned into a woman and there were two more seasons right there!” Kim joked to Norton, 62.
Speaking about coming out as a transgender woman at the time, Caitlyn said, “If I was lying on my deathbed and I had kept this secret and never ever did anything about it, I would be lying there saying, ‘You just blew your entire life.’ ”
Caitlyn remembered getting her first driver’s license while speaking to PEOPLE in 2020 to mark the fifth anniversary of her transition. “It was so emotional,” she said, adding, “There I was. Caitlyn Marie Jenner.”
Kim was an outspoken supporter of her stepdad from the start.

“This is Caitlyn’s moment and it’s her time to express herself and just be herself, and that’s really what life is about,” she told Extra while attending the CFDA Fashion Awards in June 2015.
Adding that she was “so proud,” Kim said, “She just wants to help people that don’t feel comfortable in their own skin, just to be confident in who they are.”
Years after her transition, Caitlyn is back on TV screens alongside her family. She appeared in a teaser for the seventh season of The Kardashians, which premiered on Oct. 23. This marks the first time that she will appear on the Hulu series.

While filming for The Graham Norton Show, Kim also reflected on her new acting project All’s Fair, in which she plays a divorce lawyer alongside the likes of Naomi Watts, Glenn Close, Niecy Nash-Betts, Sarah Paulson and Teyana Taylor.
“Working with a cast like this I wanted to make sure I was completely prepared,” Kim said. “What I could control was absolutely knowing my lines, being on time and being super professional. These women are the greatest at what they do, and I just watched and learned every day. It was an honor, and I have just had the best time. Working with these women was like summer camp.”
All’s Fair, which premieres on Hulu Nov. 4 isn’t the only acting project that the mogul has lined up.
“I have a few projects coming up — I film my first movie in January, and we are hoping for a season two of All’s Fair. I always want to be growing, curious and evolving, and I want to see wherever that takes me,” she teased.
