Timberlake, 44, announced in July that he was diagnosed with Lyme disease, sharing the news following the end of his two-year Forget Tomorrow World Tour. The run of shows, in support of his 2024 studio album, Everything I Thought It Was, wrapped in June.
The family — they’re parents to sons Silas, 10, and Phineas, 5 — has since been spending time in both Montana and Colorado. “They all enjoy the outdoors,” says the source. “They had a small celebration for their wedding anniversary.”
Biel and Timberlake, who tied the knot in southern Italy on Oct. 19, 2012, recently celebrated their 13th anniversary. The source adds, “Even when life is down, they’re very committed to their marriage. They are happy and united.”
Timberlake first announced his Lyme disease diagnosis via Instagram, telling fans that he wanted to “shed some light on what I’ve been up against behind the scenes.”
At the time, he wrote that “living with this can be relentlessly debilitating, both mentally and physically,” and that he was “trying to be more transparent about my struggles so that they aren’t misinterpreted.”
The musician previously canceled or postponed shows on his tour due to an ongoing back injury, bronchitis and laryngitis, and an ankle injury. “Sharing all of this with the hope that we can all find a way to be more connected,” he wrote to fans of his diagnosis. “I’d like to do my part to help others experiencing this disease too.”
A source previously told PEOPLE in August that Biel had been “incredibly supportive” of her husband amid his journey. She “felt like something was off” with her husband’s health and “encouraged him to get checked out,” the source said, adding that “she could tell that he wasn’t himself.”
In the months since, Biel has shared glimpses of family life on social media, from her two boys gifting her flowers in August to moments of “summer vibes” with Silas and Phineas.
Amid last year’s anniversary, Timberlake gave Biel a shoutout during his tour stop at Montreal’s Bell Centre. “So be nice to her, Montreal, because she’s sharing me with all of you guys tonight,” he said jokingly, before putting his hand on his heart and looking at Biel. “I love you, baby.”
