NEED TO KNOW
Savannah Guthrie is looking back on an early interviewing mistake.
The 53-year-old Today show co-host got candid on Monday, Oct. 20, about a major blooper moment from early in her career on the NBC morning show while Andy Cohen asked the longtime journalist about her on-air faux pas.
“I asked Khloé Kardashian, like, 10 seconds before we were going to break about the rumors that her father wasn’t her father,” Guthrie recalled of a 2012 interview she had with Khloé, now 41, on the show in which she asked about the rumors that the late Robert Kardashian was not her biological father.

“That was so bad. That was so bad,” Cohen, 57, agreed.
Guthrie admitted that the moment left her “so embarrassed,” adding that she felt “all this pressure” from producers who wanted her to ask the “dishy question.”

Adding that she personally didn’t want to ask the question, Guthrie noted that she waited until time was running out before she asked.

“So at the very end we were like, ‘And Khloé, like, what about this rumor that Robert Kardashian’s not really your father?’ And they were like, ‘10, nine, eight…’ and I was so embarrassed,” Guthrie explained. “And she was such a class act. She was like, ‘Ah, nothing to it.’ We made the break. I asked the question, Khloé was a total class act.”
Guthrie previously shared the story with Cohen in a SiriusXM Today Show Radio town hall in February.
“She saved my butt,” Guthrie said of Khloé at the time. “She’s a doll.”
Guthrie has since gone on to co-anchor the main news hour of the Today show alongside Craig Melvin.
These days Guthrie is unafraid to open about an on-air flub. Back in May, she admitted to asking Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts a question she called her “career lowlight.”
“I just want to say, I did not ask Jalen Hurts if it felt good with the Tush Push,” Guthrie quipped of her February interview with the Super Bowl champ. “That was a deep fake. I don’t think it actually happened. There was a context.”
