NEED TO KNOW
Things are getting messy in the world of The Morning Show.
In PEOPLE’s exclusive clip from the Wednesday, Oct. 15 episode of the Apple TV series, Reese Witherspoon arrives at Jennifer Aniston’s apartment to talk about her contract at UBN — except that it turns out work is the furthest thing from her mind.
“I can’t sign a contract extension right now. I don’t wanna get involved in all this Chris stuff,” Bradley (Witherspoon) says in the clip. “Not to mention, I feel like you didn’t really want me here in the first place.”
“Well, no, no — but the extension is my idea,” Alex (Aniston) reveals, taking Bradley by surprise.
“Really? Why?” she asks.
“Because, clearly, I’m a masochist, and even though you’re a huge pain in the ass, I really — I believe in you,” Alex tells her.

“Well, maybe you shouldn’t,” Bradley admits, and then the truth comes out: “I slept with Cory.”
Alex is shell-shocked by the news, and Bradley says, “It just happened.”
“Yeah, just like an oops?” Alex asks.
“I was a mess. And he seemed safe,” Bradley tells her of Cory (Billy Crudup), but that description leaves Alex even more confused. “Cory Ellison? Seemed safe? Like an open elevator shaft kind of safe?”
The long-awaited coupling for Bradley and Cory came in season’s third episode, which premiered on Oct. 1.
Crudup, 57, had teased to PEOPLE that, while the pair had “always been good about keeping their boundaries” so far in the show, “this season, maybe the boundaries evaporate a little bit.”
“It’s incredible to have a character arc that is such a slow burn,” he said of his and Witherspoon’s on-screen chemistry, which has built up over four years — “or seven years, since we’ve been doing it,” he said.

Witherspoon, 49, told TVLine that she was “surprised” by Bradley giving in to the chemistry with Cory — but it made more sense that it wasn’t solely a hook-up.
“Of course, in true Morning Show style, we finally get this moment between Cory and Bradley. But Bradley’s really, behind the scenes, taking advantage of him.”
“I think it’s so interesting, too, their dynamic,” she told the outlet. “I can’t even make heads or tails of it sometimes — why they’re so enmeshed.”
