Andrew Lloyd Webber has been thinking of Lady Gaga.
In an Oct. 10 video posted to his official social media accounts, the renowned composer — beloved for The Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar and more — raved about the pop star after seeing one of her Mayhem Ball tour stops in London.
“I loved the Lady Gaga concert. It was really fabulous. She really knows how to handle an audience, and it was a great evening. It was so wonderful, actually, to see somebody really singing live rather than, as we know, some artists who are really miming to a pre-recorded track,” Webber, 77, said. “Really fabulous live concert.”

The EGOT winner went on to praise the references Gaga made to The Phantom of the Opera throughout her show.
“Of course, I was really, really pleased to see an opera house on stage and even more pleased to see a boat with her in it being rowed across the big auditorium that is O2. It reminded me of something that I might have had a little involvement with,” Webber added. “But I thought the concert was absolutely fabulous, and I think Lady Gaga is absolutely a world superstar.”

Gaga, 39, responded to Webber’s video with a crying emoji, commenting, “this is a dream come true” on his TikTok post.

Gaga’s Mayhem Ball — which she executive produces alongside her fiancé, Michael Polansky — has received acclaim thanks to its spectacular theatrical production. On the tour, she transforms sports arenas, like London’s O2 arena, into an opera house setting as she powers through an electric set list that includes songs from her latest album, Mayhem, as well as some of her greatest hits.
As Webber noted, during the concert, Gaga steps into a rowboat that is transported across the stage while she sings “Shallow,” her Grammy- and Oscar-winning song from A Star Is Born, providing one of the tour’s many show-stopping moments.
Gaga kicked off the Mayhem Ball in Nevada in July. She’ll continue to tour throughout Europe and Australia this year and make her way to Japan in January before returning to North America in February. The tour will wrap at Madison Square Garden, in Gaga’s hometown of New York City, on April 13.
