NBC is giving mockumentary fans a new reason to cheer.
PEOPLE can exclusively reveal the official trailer for Stumble, the network’s forthcoming, high-flying comedy series following the story of a cheerleading team and its determined coach, starring Jenn Lyon and Taran Killam with recurring guest star Kristin Chenoweth.
The series, which arrives on Nov. 7, focuses on “the ridiculously high stakes and competitive world of junior college cheer,” per a description.
And its trailer doesn’t shy away on the ridiculousness.

The early glimpse of Stumble kicks off with Lyon’s character Courteney Potter revealing that cheer has been her “life’s work” and has put together “the most disciplined teams to ever take the mat.” That is… until now.
Potter — who was “one championship shy of being the winningest coach in college cheer history” has to grapple with putting together a new junior college cheer squad after a certain video hit the internet.

“I have been asked to be fired,” Potter announces to the team, as Chenoweth’s character Tammy Istiny falls to the floor, grabs her leg and yells out, apparently realizing she’d have to take the reigns.
Potter then decides she’s “starting a new team” at a school she can barely pronounce the name of (Headltston State Junior College) — a “small junior college 80 miles away” as she tells her husband, played by Killam.

That’s when the recruiting really starts. Along the way, Potter taps cheerleaders of the past, poaches some of Istiny’s competitors and attempts to qualify for nationals. “I’m looking for tumblers and stumblers,” Potter says, as she discovers one student with narcolepsy who manages to fall asleep mid-routine.

“Are they perfect? No. Are they good? I wouldn’t say so,” Potter says. “I’m just trying to make sure nobody dies.”
The trailer wraps with Potter reiterating that cheer is “more than just being on a team.” For her, it’s “family.”
“Can I win the title? I can, I will, I must.”
The mockumentary series will feature performances from Ryan Pinkston, Jarrett Austin Brown, Anissa Borrego, Arianna Davis, Taylor Dunbar and Georgie Murphy, with Jeff Astrof and Liz Astrof writing, Jeff Blitz directing and Dana Honor, Monica Aldama executive producing. Blitz and the Astrofs will also executive produce, with the project coming from production company Defining Eve Productions.
Stumble premieres Nov. 7 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on NBC, with episodes available to stream the next day on Peacock.
