Liam Gallagher is a Grandfather After Daughter Molly Welcomes Son

Liam Gallagher is a granddad!

The 53-year-old British rocker — and co-frontman of Oasis with brother Noel Gallagher — officially became a grandparent in September after his daughter Molly Moorish-Gallagher welcomed her first child with boyfriend Nathaniel “Nat” Phillips, a professional soccer player.

Molly, the daughter of Liam and singer Lisa Moorish, announced that she and Phillips, 28, had welcomed a son, named Rudy, last month in an Instagram post shared Saturday, Oct. 11. She shared a shot of the newborn resting, and a shot of her athlete beau holding him, among other photos.

The new mom, 27, also shared shots of signs that read, “Rudy,” “Hello Baby,” and “We adore you.” In the caption, she wrote, “A message to you, rudy 🩵.”

Liam has not yet reacted to the news publicly. A spokesperson for the “Live Forever” singer did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Oct. 11.

Moorish, 53, however, shared her excitement in a comment on her daughter’s post announcing the news. “That last slide!!! ‘IM RUDY I’M NEW’ 🩵🩵🩵🩵🥹😭🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰,” the new grandmother wrote. “My beautiful grandson 🤗🤗🤗.”

Another one of Liam’s children, Gene Gallagher, also shared well-wishes in the comments of Molly’s post. The rocker’s mini-me son, 24, simply wrote, “❤️❤️❤️.”

Molly announced her pregnancy back in May, sharing a carousel of photos on Instagram, including shots of her bump, baby clothes and the expectant parents posing together.

“Bulking season 🤰🏻,” she captioned the post, as mom Moorish shared her enthusiasm in the comments: “Waaaaaaah! Can’t wait to be 👵🏽 👶🏻♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️.”

Liam was estranged from his daughter for much of her life. In 2017, the “Wonderwall” singer admitted to GQ in 2017 that he had “never got around” to meeting his daughter with Moorish, explaining that he didn’t get along with the former Kill City vocalist. (Liam and Moorish dated for two years before she got pregnant with Molly, Lisa previously said on Instagram.)

“The kid I haven’t seen. We’ll see one day, but, no, not seen her,” Gallagher said at the time. “I just ain’t met her because her mam’s… Listen, we don’t work. We don’t get on.”

“If I met her, she’d be cool. She’s welcome in my world and that, you know what I mean? Without a doubt,” he told GQ of Molly. “I mean I’m open to everything. But at the moment it ain’t happening.”

He went on to say that he’s “got no problem with the girl [Molly] whatsoever. The girl’s been looked after and clothed and fed and sent to lovely schools. I bought them a house and all that tack. I just think she’s best off with her mum.”

The following year, the father-daughter duo met, posing for a photo together backstage at a Rolling Stones concert in London alongside Liam’s sons Lennon and Gene.

The rocker’s two sons both came from different relationships. Lennon was born out of Liam’s marriage to ex-wife Patsy Kensit, while Gene was born during the singer’s courtship to All Saints singer Nicole Appleton.

Liam also has a fourth child — a daughter named Gemma — from a relationship with journalist Lisa Ghorbani. Like he was with Molly for so long, Liam and Gemma are seemingly still estranged.
