NEED TO KNOW
Jennifer Lopez knows how to handle a wardrobe malfunction like a pro.
The singer, 56, appeared on the Tuesday, Oct. 7, episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and reflected on the viral wardrobe malfunction she experienced in Poland on July 25 while the crowd sang “Happy Birthday” to her.
Leading up to the moment, one of Lopez’s backup dancers could be seen adjusting her skirt to prevent it from slipping down or falling entirely. The skirt fell immediately after the backup dancer made the adjustment, leaving Lopez in her sparkly gold performance bra, matching high-waist underwear and nude stockings.
“I’m out here in my underwear, how do you like that? That’s gonna be everywhere,” she told the crowd, later throwing the skirt to the audience after it failed to stay up. “I’m glad that they reinforced that costume, and I’m glad that I had underwear on. I usually don’t wear underwear.”
Reflecting on the moment with Fallon, she confirmed that the viral moment “wasn’t part of the show,” and likely stemmed from a last-minute plan to create the outfit.

“They made that outfit that day. I had seen a picture of an old supermodel from, like, the ’90s, Yasmine Bleeth, and she had this cute little outfit,” Lopez explained. “I was like, ‘let’s make this outfit.'”
She continued, “Made them crazy to make this outfit. And they never had a chance to do it. Didn’t know if I was really gonna wear it, but I did at the last second. And I go out there, and the thing just falls apart.”
“But you went right with it?” Fallon asked her, to which the pop star replied, “I was like, thank God I had a big, you know, underwear on.”

Though the stage outfit was a miss, Lopez has had a series of fashion hits lately while promoting her upcoming movie, Kiss of the Spider Woman.
For the Oct. 6 special screening of the movie in New York, Lopez wowed in a sculptural gown from Harris Reed’s Spring 2026 ready-to-wear collection. The sheer green gown featured black floral motifs throughout and a three-dimensional belt that circled her head, shoulders and hips.

Lopez’s fashionable moments continued on Oct. 7. While out in New York City, the star put a spider-esque spin on the office siren aesthetic and wore a white button-down top with a black corset and skirt.

She added a knit cardigan with an open weave — which resembled black spider webs — black satin heels, black sunglasses and a black leather handbag with gold hardware to complete the look.
