“It’s hard to believe it’s been 35 years since ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ first premiered,” Darren Star, who created and served as executive producer of the series, shares. “I’m so proud of the show’s lasting impact and grateful to the cast, crew, and fans who have kept its legacy alive.”
The teen series turned primetime must-watch was a global TV phenomenon that kicked off on Oct. 4, 1990. The series made stars of its cast — Jason Priestley, Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Luke Perry, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling.
In the years since Beverly Hills, 90210 came to an end, the show’s leads have expanded into careers of their own. However, the cast has also been touched by tragedy with the loss of Luke Perry and Shannen Doherty. Perry died at age 52 on March 4, 2019, while died at 53 years old on July 13, 2024.

During their March 2025 90s Con appearance, surviving members of the cast discussed what it’s like getting to know the show and its characters through the fans’ eyes. For Spelling and Garth, they’ve dug even deeper with the 90210MG rewatch podcast.
“We were always busy working and we never really sat down to watch an entire episode,” Garth explained. “And when we were filming, we only really saw what our scenes were.”

Green said they were so busy that sometimes there were guest stars on set that — if you didn’t have a scene with them — you wouldn’t even know about it until after they left. “So all of a sudden, you get to set, and it’s like, ‘Oh yeah, you know, Burt Reynolds was here yesterday,’ ” he said, referencing a season 3 episode the legendary actor appeared in.
“And it was like, ‘What, how the f— was Burt Reynolds here?’ And it was like, ‘Oh, he wasn’t in your scene.’ And then you see pictures, and it’s like, you lucky bastards, you’re in the Peach Pit with Burt Reynolds.”
