Jessica Chastain’s latest project will not be hitting Apple TV+ just yet.
On Tuesday, Sept. 23, just three days before The Savant was slated to premiere, the streamer announced its decision to postpone the release, PEOPLE has confirmed.
“After careful consideration, we have made the decision to postpone The Savant,” a spokesperson for the streamer told PEOPLE. “We appreciate your understanding and look forward to releasing the series at a future date.”
Deadline was the first to report the news. Chastain, 48, has yet to comment on the postponement.

The limited series, which Chaistain both stars in and executive produces, was set to premiere with its first two episodes on Friday, Sept. 26, followed by episodic release schedule through Nov. 7.
Nnamdi Asomugha, Cole Doman, Jordana Spiro, Trinity Lee Shirley and Toussaint Francois Battiste star in the eight-episode series alongside Chastain and guest star Pablo Schreiber. The Savant follows an undercover investigator (Chastain) who “infiltrates online hate groups in an effort to stop domestic extremists before they act,” per the official logline.

While promoting the series, Chastain spoke about the overall message of the show as she reflected on how she’s maintained privacy in her own life as a public figure, calling it “by far, a priority” in her life.
“Privacy has always been something that’s been very important to me,” she told PEOPLE. “I have taken social media off my phone. I have it now on an iPad, so I can — I still have access that I can use it for work, but I definitely want a separation between me and the internet.”
“Not just for privacy sake, but for mental health sake,” she continued. “I think more people should be encouraged to do that. It’s a very addictive thing and, it’s not as upsetting to me when it’s addictive when it’s, like, cute puppy videos, but when it’s addictive and then it’s leading you to like really, really dark videos.”
“We need a break and we need to figure out how to create a boundary,” she added of her digital life.
