A$AP Rocky is hoping for a little girl to join his family.
The Don’t Be Dumb artist, 36, chatted with Elle about his acting career, his recent trial, fatherhood and his third baby on the way with longtime partner Rihanna. During the conversation, Rocky, born Rakim Meyers, opened up about his hopes of welcoming a baby girl.
“I hope it’s a girl. I really do. We’re praying for a girl,” he told the outlet. “Our first time, we wanted to know the sex of the baby. The second time, we didn’t want to know. Third time, we don’t want to know until, you know.”
“I feel like it’s going to be a girl,” he added. “This pregnancy is so different from the other two. You can tell from the experience. I hope it’s a baby girl, man. I need that.”

The Highest 2 Lowest star and the Fenty Beauty founder, 37, are already parents to sons Riot, 2, and RZA, 3. During his conversation with Elle, the proud father revealed that he used to enjoy being a playboy because he thought he had to do that to be a rock star. However, as he’s grown in the industry, he noted there’s “no longevity in that.”
“What’s really fly is raising a family, bro, and loving them,” he shared. “Being there.”
While music is always important to Rocky, who’s set to release his fourth studio album Don’t Be Dumb this year, he told the outlet that family is always his first priority.
“I don’t want to primarily blame it on my case, but life was lifeing,” he told the outlet, referring to the reason for his album’s delay. “We don’t plan on having children, but when it happens, you gotta adjust and move with it. I gotta be present for my family, because that’s first.”

Fans of both Rihanna and Rocky have been vocal about their desire for new music — and their acceptance that it may never come. The Long. Live. A$AP artist shared with Elle that he and the Anti songstress joke about the fans’ reaction to their unreleased projects.
“You know what we joke about?” the doting dad told the outlet. “She’s like, ‘Yo, I ain’t gonna lie. Your fans might want to kick your ass as much as my fans wanna kick my ass. What saves me is that I’m pregnant most of the time.’”
The rapper recently spoke to GQ and was asked by the outlet if he’s planning on approaching parenting differently with his third child.
“Well, I would say this experience and this pregnancy has been so different in comparison to the first two prior,” he responded. “So, nothing’s ever the same. Each experience is always just different in its own right. And it’s no different with this one.”
