NEED TO KNOW
John Stamos finally made it to Riot Fest.
The Full House star and musician appeared at the Chicago-based music festival after organizers sought his attendance as a performer — for over 10 years! — on Saturday, Sept. 20.
In 2013, organizers were keen to book Stamos, 62, with his Full House band Jesse and the Rippers — and didn’t back down.
“I’m a little disappointed that @JohnStamos hasn’t gotten back to us about the Jesse & The Rippers reunion show at #riotfest,” their X account posted in June 2013, thus kicking off a movement.

For over a decade, they tried to woo Stamos with everything from a “Butter Stamos” statue to an art show dedicated to the ER alum.
This year, Riot Fest recruited the Beach Boys, of which Stamos is an honorary member. Stamos began performing with the iconic band in 1985, and the Beach Boys made several cameos on Full House.
Per Chicago news station WGN9, Stamos “begrudgingly” agreed to perform at Riot Fest in Chicago’s Douglass Park alongside Mike Love, Bruce Johnston and their touring band.
In order to lock in Stamos, however, the actor listed several conditions, per CBS News. The festival’s founder, Riot Mike, was required to get a tattoo of Stamos. His ink featured a stick of butter that read “butter” in a Greek restaurant-style font along with Stamos’ last name.
The festival was also asked to hold a John Stamos lookalike contest (which produced some pretty convincing doppelgängers).
Finally, Stamos requested that there be a Greek-inspired, Chicago-style pizza named after him by a local restaurant. Giardano’s handled the request, and the Stamos Supreme was born.

A foot run, Stamos-approved merch featuring masks, and a guitar filled with never-ending hummus were also provided per Stamos’ request. Finally, fans were not allowed to make eye contact with his hair.
The festival triumphantly posted “WE DID IT” on Facebook after Stamos took the stage.
Per CBS News, their setlist for Riot Fest was nostalgia-packed. They performed “Surfin’ USA, “Good Vibrations” and “Kokomo.”

Following his Riot Fest debut, Stamos shared pictures on Instagram from his time at the music festival.
” ‘Wouldn’t It Be Nice’ if I went to @riot_fest ?” he captioned the picture, referring to the Beach Boys’ 1966 song.
