Michael Chiklis is getting emotional as he gets ready to become a first-time grandfather.
While chatting with Live with Kelly and Mark hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos about his grandbaby on the way, The Senior actor, 62, said that the joyful news has “broken me open like an egg.” He jokingly added that he cries in the shower and while walking down the street.
“I don’t know what’s wrong with me, it’s broken me open like an egg. I cry in the shower,” he shared.
“Everything they say about being a grandparent is true, I guess, because the kid’s not even here yet and I’m mental,” he continued. “And, I live in [an] estrogen house, so it only makes sense that we’re having a girl.”
The No Ordinary Family alum, who’s a father to daughters Odessa, 25, and Autumn, 31, shared with Ripa and Consuelos, both 54, what his grandpa name is going to be.
“I’m Pappouli,” he said. “I’m a Greek, so Pappouli, and you know when the kids are babies, she’s going to call me ‘Poo Poo’ or something. It’s the greatest.”
The actor went on to share that he can’t wait to hold and cuddle the baby because it’s something that he misses now that his daughters are older.
After pretending to hold and cuddle an imaginary baby, Chiklis said, “I miss that, actually. Cause my kids are grown.”

Last year, before his daughter Autumn wed actor Dor Gvirtsman, The Shield alum revealed on Live with Kelly and Mark that the thought of it choked him up.
“You guys are going to ruin my rep because I could cry right now talking about it,” he said on the program, before adding that he “loves” her future husband.
“Adore him,” Chiklis said, referring to her husband. “He’s wonderful, he’s a beautiful guy. And they’ve been together for a while. He was lovely — he called us and said, ‘I’m going to be out Saturday, can I come over and talk to you and Michelle [Morán]?’ And he came over and made us a beautiful dinner, and he asked us properly for her hand. True gentleman and of course we cried, and it was lovely.”
