On Sept. 17, the beloved Prime Video show — which is based on Jenny Han’s best-selling romance novel trilogy — came to an end with its highly anticipated series finale. In the episode’s final moments, Belly Conklin (Lola Tung) chose Conrad Fisher (Christopher Briney) once and for all after three seasons of navigating a complicated love triangle that involved his brother, Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno).
Just hours after the finale’s release, Prime Video announced that the story wasn’t over just yet, as a feature film is in the works.
“There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due,” Han, who will return to write and direct the project, said in a press release. “I’m so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans.”
From which cast members will return to when it will be released, here’s everything to know about The Summer I Turned Pretty movie.

An official synopsis for The Summer I Turned Pretty movie has yet to be released, though the press release notes that the film is meant to serve as a conclusion of the story.
One day after the announcement, Han appeared on the Today show alongside Tung, Briney and Casalegno and shared some additional teasers about the movie.
When asked if fans can expect a wedding given the ending of the book trilogy, she remained careful with her words, though teased that there will be “another big milestone for Belly, so we’ll continue with that journey.”
Tung said she couldn’t say “much,” but added it was “fun that it’s finally out there in the world.”

#Bonrad will be back on our screens soon, as Tung and Briney will reprise their roles as Belly and Conrad, respectively.
The remaining cast has yet to be announced, so we’ll have to stay tuned to see if Conrad and Belly will be joined by their friends and family, including Jeremiah, Steven Conklin (Sean Kaufman), Taylor Jewel (Rain Spencer) and Laurel Park (Jackie Chung).
Since the finale ended with Steven and Taylor deciding to move cross-country together and Jeremiah beginning a budding romance with his former co-worker Denise (Isabella Briggs), a movie could further explore several storylines involving their characters.

Although The Summer I Turned Pretty movie has been greenlit, several fans are still holding out hope for a spinoff series — which has not been confirmed. However, several of the cast members have spoken about the possibility of a spinoff, and expressed who they’d like to see as the leading characters.
Briney spoke to Deadline in July 2025 and shared his vision for a spinoff that focused on his parents, Susannah (Rachel Blanchard) and Adam (Tom Everett Scott), and Belly’s parents, Laurel and John (Colin Ferguson).
“I would want to see the college years of Susannah, Laurel, Adam and [John],” he said. “But I want it to be like a sitcom with no audience and no laugh track. There’s just silences. They pause for laughs that aren’t there. I think it works.”
Kaufman echoed the idea to Entertainment Tonight in July 2025, saying that it would be his “dream” to see Laurel and Susannah “getting to know each other” in their younger years.
But while much of the cast is pushing for Laurel to star, Chung herself has other hopes.
“There’s someone that I didn’t have a lot one-on-one screen time with, that I would like to see more of, and that would be Taylor,” she said, while Spencer, who plays Taylor, told the outlet that “there should be a Steven show.”
Casalegno echoed the idea, saying, “I think Sean would be amazing. He’s a fun character … I think it would be super fun to see something along that line.”
