The leaves are starting to change color, the weather is dropping a few degrees and oh? What’s that? Your couch is calling? Yeah, that’s right … it’s binging season.
This weekend, Sept. 13-14, we’ve got a diverse array of titles, including the allegedly final installment of what feels like the OG Bridgerton and the return of the iconic sleuthing trio that is Selena Gomez, Martin Short and Steve Martin.
On a more serious note, one infamous actor bares all in a new, raw Netflix documentary looking back at his life. Plus, in a fun addition, we have one live event this weekend that features some of our favorite heartthrobs from Jeremy Allen White to Pedro Pascal.
And there’s more! Here’s a list of the nine best new movies and shows to watch this weekend and where to stream them.
Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale
Cue iconic theme song that we maybe all learned to play on the piano when we were 10 years old (too niche?): Downton Abbey is back for one final swing in its third movie.
The Crawley family is back in the spotlight as Mary (Michelle Dockery) faces public scandal, and the rest of the crew struggle with their finances. But all good things must come to an end, and, as the trailer so delicately puts it, “the time has come to say goodbye.”
Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale releases in theaters Sept. 12.
Only Murders in the Building season 5
There has, somehow, been yet another murder in the building. One would think that perhaps Mabel (Gomez), Oliver (Short) and Charles (Martin) would move out of their clearly demented building, but how would they get clicks then?
The beloved trio is now investigating the death of their doorman, Lester, which leads them to brush shoulders with some surprising faces, including the mafia and New York City’s elite.
Watch the first three episodes of season 5 of Only Murders in the Building on Hulu.
The Wrong Paris
Miranda Cosgrove’s Dawn has aspirations like the rest of us in The Wrong Paris: live out her dreams in Paris and meet the man after her heart. To make her goals a reality, she signs up for a dating show that will send her to Paris for free so she can afford to make the move.
But she ends up having a Hannah Montana: The Movie moment when she steps out of the plane to find she is not, in fact, in Paris, France, but rather in Paris, Texas. And the competition show involves a cowboy.
Watch The Wrong Paris on Netflix.
aka Charlie Sheen
Charlie Sheen is baring it all in a new Netflix documentary looking back at the scandals that rocked his career, including his crippling drug addiction.
The Two and a Half Men actor discusses the worst of his struggles, featuring interviews with his ex-wives, Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller, and even his supplier.
Watch aka Charlie Sheen on Netflix.
The Girlfriend
It’s a tale as old as time: mommy’s-boy-boyfrend brings complicated-girlfriend to meet judgmental-mother and chaos ensues. The Girlfriend is just that, giving 2005’s Monster-In-Law, but serious.
When Cherry (Olivia Cooke) meets her boyfriend’s mom Laura (Robin Wright), a rivalry between the two immediately kicks off and viewers will be at the edge of their seats to see who wins Daniel’s (Laurie Davidson) affection, because, as Laura says not-so-eloquently, there can only be one.
Watch The Girlfriend on Prime Video.
Beauty in Black season 2
The second season of Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black is here — and the drama is piping hot.
The Bellarie family has a new leader, but that doesn’t mean her siblings or relatives will let her take their power so easily.
Watch the first part of Beauty in Black season 2 on Netflix.
The History of Sound
Two of the internet’s most buzzy heartthrobs (and our personal boyfriend goals), Paul Mescal and Josh O’Connor, team up in The History of Sound as two star-crossed lovers struggling to reconcile their love for each other amid the time period they were brought up in.
Music bonds them, and they set out to record their lives through song as World War I unfolds.
The History of Sound releases in theaters Sept. 12.
The Long Walk
Adapted from Stephen King’s first written novel, The Long Walk, has a very simple premise: keep walking or you die.
Obviously, not a pleasant concept, but one that keeps the men involved in line — until they start dropping off one by one. And only a single walker may cross the finish line.
The Long Walk releases in theaters Sept. 12.
Emmy Awards
The first awards show of the season is here and stars from Kristen Bell to Seth Rogen are ready to walk the carpet and celebrate this year’s best TV moments.
Comedian Nate Bargatze will take the stage as host honoring some of the biggest shows of the year, including Severance, which leads with 27 nominations.
Watch the Emmy Awards live at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+.
