NEED TO KNOW
Ozzy Osbourne’s first posthumous TV appearance is a bittersweet one.
The heavy metal legend, who died in July at 76 years old, surprised fans of all ages when he appeared in the Monday, Sept. 8 episode of the Lego Masters Jr. reality competition alongside his daughter, Kelly Osbourne, who hosts the show.
In the “Ninjago”-themed episode, Ozzy appears on a giant screen above the show’s contestants, wearing a black shirt and rocking his signature excessive jewelry, to greet his daughter. “Hi Dad! We need someone to scare a few of the kids,” Kelly, 40, says. “Would you mind?”
The “Paranoid” singer happily obliges in motivating the young contestants, who compete to create the best Lego creation.

As the stage lights turn red, and Ozzy shouts, “One hour left, kids! You’ve got one hour left to finish those builds!” in the show, before adding “or else!” with maniacal laughter.
The child contestants became overwhelmed and Kelly thanked her dad. “That was perfect!” she shouts. “We love you.”
“Good luck, kids!” Ozzy signs off. Judge Boone Langston joked that Ozzy’s appearance was “crazy train,” referring to Ozzy’s 1980 song of the same name.

Ozzy’s family announced his death on July 22.
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” they told PEOPLE in a statement at the time. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
Weeks before he died, Ozzy performed at Back to the Beginning, his band Black Sabbath’s farewell concert, from a throne.
Ozzy was no stranger to appearing on television. He, his wife of over 40 years Sharon Osbourne, and two of Ozzy’s kids, Kelly and Jack Osbourne, pioneered reality TV with their own series from 2002 to 2005.
Titled The Osbournes, the MTV show followed the family’s dynamics and their unorthodox antics for four seasons, from Ozzy chasing around a cat to protect it from coyotes to Ozzy fighting the ocean and (relatably) struggling with a high-tech remote control.
Days before Ozzy died, Kelly shared a bittersweet home video of him and his grandson, Sidney. The clip features the trio sitting together and Kelly asking Ozzy to say hello to her followers.

On Aug. 4, Kelly paid tribute to Ozzy, reflecting on his death days after his funeral.
“I’ve sat down to write this a hundred times and still don’t know if the words will ever feel like enough.. but from the bottom of my heart, thank you,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories at the time.
“The love, support, and beautiful messages I’ve received from so many of you have truly helped carry me through the hardest moment of my life. Every kind word, every shared memory, every bit of compassion has meant more than I can ever explain,” she added. “Grief is a strange thing-it sneaks up on you in waves—I will not be ok for a while-but knowing my family are not alone in our pain makes a difference. I’m holding on tight to the love, the light, and the legacy left behind.”
