Kylie Kelce Explains Decision Not Discuss Taylor Swift Engagement

Kylie Kelce is getting candid on why she hasn’t commented on brother-in-law Travis Kelce’s engagement to Taylor Swift.

The mom of four and wife to Jason Kelce, 33, shared on the Sept. 11 episode of her Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce podcast the thought process behind not publicly congratulating the couple on their happy news.

“I have made a very conscious effort to not discuss Taylor and Travis on this podcast because news outlets, tabloids and AI, quite frankly, like to post,” she revealed, adding that they often grab “quotes” from “whatever I say in reference to them.”

However, Kylie noted that she thought there was a “disconnect” with this because she had her own close private relationship with her brother-in-law and the pop singer, both 35, that “no one else is involved in.”

“I don’t need to come out here and make statements when I already talked to them,” she explained. “You see what I’m saying? I don’t need you to clickbait my s—. I don’t need you to take my comments and try and dissect it.”

“I think it goes without being said [that] I am so incredibly happy for them,” she continued. “We are so excited that they are taking this next step. The girls are so excited to get another aunt. I am so truly happy for them, and I feel so grateful that we get to welcome Taylor into our family in a more official capacity.”

“But it’s our private relationship. So that’s my brother-in-law, Travis, and my soon-to-be sister-in-law, Taylor,” she added.

The podcaster added that she also didn’t “need to talk about them all the time” on her podcast, so “it’s okay” that she “didn’t congratulate them in the last episode” due to time constraints. 

“I don’t always have to comment on what they’re doing in their lives because I can just text them and talk to them about it,” Kylie noted.

This doesn’t mean that Kylie has stayed mum on the topic altogether. She previously opened up on Good Morning America about what her four daughters — Wyatt, 5, Elliotte, 4, Bennett, 2, and Finn, 4 months — thought about having Swift as an aunt.

“The girls are thrilled. They’re so excited they’re getting another aunt. And we could not be more excited for them and what the future holds. We love love, and we love Taylor and Trav,” she shared on the Sept. 5 episode of the morning show.

It appears that the feeling is mutual, as Swift told Jason during her appearance on the New Heights podcast on Aug. 13: “Kylie is exactly as I thought she would be, just like the realest, the smartest, the coolest. You’re [both] fantastic.”
