NEED TO KNOW
Hannah Godwin and Dylan Barbour’s second wedding anniversary celebrations weren’t exactly traditional!
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at the InStyle x Delta’s Icons Off the Runway: A Celebration of Style & Sport event in New York City on Monday, Sept. 8, the Bachelor in Paradise alums detailed the unusual way they marked the day.
“We were talking about this and we’ve decided we’re more birthday people because our wedding celebration was at my dad’s wedding,” says Godwin, 30. “It was on the same day as our wedding, which we were totally cool with, and we love him and his wife. And they were like, ‘We only have these two weekends available.’ And we’re like, ‘Go for it.’ Which is hilarious.”

“We celebrated her dad’s wedding, your mom’s birthday, our other friend’s birthday and then at some point in time we’re going to go to dinner,” Barbour, 31, continues, before Godwin chimes in, adding: “And our wedding, on the same day.”
“All on the same day,” Barbour echoes.
“So basically what we did was attend my dad’s wedding and go to sleep early, which by the way, that was our treat,” Godwin explains. “But birthdays, buckle up, we go all out. We’re big birthday people.”
While Barbour celebrated his birthday in June, Godwin is due to celebrate her 31st birthday in February.
Barbour adds that the past two years of marriage have gone “really fast.” “My favorite part about Hannah is how she makes everyone around her, every person she talks to, it’s like a very one-on-one, intimate, engaged,” he tells PEOPLE. “She does a great job of that. And then she’s very selfless, so love that.”
Godwin went on to share how the pair keeps their marriage strong and her “biggest fear” when it comes to their relationship.

“We do a lot of check-ins,” Godwin says. “I’m like, ‘So what are your thoughts right now? How are we doing?’ Because my biggest fear ever would be for something to break this apart. So we do check-ins a lot.”
“This is my best friend and it’s really been such a joy and I feel like I’m the best version of myself that I didn’t even know existed with you,” Godwin continues. “He’s my biggest cheerleader behind the scenes. Everything that I do, he is the one being like, ‘Hannah, let’s do this. Go for it. Put yourself out there.’ Because, naturally, I’m a wallflower a little bit. And he has been that personality for me to weave in like, ‘Just go for it.’ So thanks.”

The couple tied the knot on Aug. 23, 2023, at Chateau de Villette in Condécourt, France, in front of 145 guests.
The nuptials were the conclusion of a week-long celebration, with Barbour describing the wedding, which was officiated by his uncle, as “dreamlike.”
“Odds are we’ll never have all of these people in one place ever again, so I’m looking forward to being in the moment, laughing, and soaking up all the love,” Barbour exclusively told PEOPLE at the time.
“It’s almost hard to put into words how magical this day is for us,” Godwin added. “Not only do I get to marry the guy of my dreams, but I get to be in France with my closest family and friends. I feel like there’s no other words to describe it other than the best day ever!”
Godwin and Barbour got engaged in September 2019, at the end of the Bachelor in Paradise’s sixth season.
