Each of the three main characters has fallen for a suspect on Only Murders in the Building. But thankfully, the actors who play the ill-fated sleuths haven’t been as unlucky in love in real life.
Since its premiere in 2021, the Emmy-winning series has followed neighbors-turned-true-crime-investigators Mabel (Selena Gomez), Charles (Steve Martin) and Oliver (Martin Short) as they solve homicides in their building, all while managing their interpersonal and private lives.
The Hulu series is not short on romantic plotlines. Mabel has had three love interests, including Cara Delevingne’s Alice Banks in season 2, while Oliver marries Meryl Streep’s Loretta Durkin in season 4. Season 5, which premiered on Sept. 9, promises to deliver even more complicated romances.
Off-screen, many of the actors are in fulfilling long-term relationships. Read on to learn all about the real-life partners of the Only Murders in the Building cast.

At the 2024 Emmys in January, the couple made their award show debut.
While on The Howard Stern Show in May later that year, Blanco told the radio host that he could envision marriage to Gomez but hadn’t purchased a ring. He called her his “best friend” and couldn’t imagine a world “where it could be better than this.”
Just seven months later, the singer-actress announced in December 2024 that she and Blanco had gotten engaged.

Martin and his wife Anne Stringfield have been married since 2007.
The couple met in the mid-2000s while Stringfield worked as a fact-checker for The New Yorker. She first got in touch with Martin, who regularly contributed to the magazine’s Shouts & Murmurs section, while checking one of his pieces. The actor told AARP in 2017 that he talked to Stringfield over the phone for a year before they ever met face-to-face.
On July 28, 2007, Martin and Stringfield wed at their Los Angeles home in front of 75 guests, including Eugene Levy, Tom Hanks, Diane Keaton and best man Lorne Michaels. Former Nebraska Sen. Bob Kerrey, a friend of Martin, officiated the ceremony.
In 2012, they welcomed a daughter named Mary. At the Governors Awards the next year, Martin said in his honorary award speech, “My wife alone would have been enough reward for my life … but now she’s brought me a wonderful child.”
Stringfield has never walked a red carpet with her husband but has accompanied him to a few industry events like Vanity Fair’s 2013 and 2015 Oscar parties and the 2021 American Museum of Natural History Gala.

Short was married to actress Nancy Dolman for 30 years before she died of ovarian cancer in 2010. The couple met on the set of the musical Godspell before tying the knot in 1980.
Following her death, Short and their three children — Katherine Elizabeth Short, Oliver Patrick Short and Henry Hayter Short — threw a party in Dolman’s honor.
“(Nancy) had once said to me, ‘I don’t want a funeral and I don’t want a memorial. Throw a party, or not,’ ” the actor said during a November 2014 appearance on The Meredith Vieira Show. “She just was so irritated that she was losing this battle, she didn’t want to think about it.”
Short continued, “So I just followed her wishes. We went up, we had a party with about 30 close friends and family. She was cremated. The kids and I went into a boat, we sprinkled the ashes into the water, and we jumped into the ashes.”

Streep was married to visual artist Don Gummer for 45 years, until announcing their separation in 2023.
“Don Gummer and Meryl Streep have been separated for more than 6 years,” a rep for the actress said in a statement. “While they will always care for each other, they have chosen lives apart.”
The former couple share four children together: Henry Wolfe Gummer, Mary Willa “Mamie” Gummer, Grace Gummer and Louisa Jacobson Gummer.
Rumors that Streep was dating her OMITB costar (and on-screen love interest) Short started circling after fans noticed how close they were during the 2024 Golden Globes. However, the actor confirmed that the two were just friends.
“We’re not a couple,” he said during a January 2024 episode of Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast. “We are just very close friends.”

Of the proposal, Fey told PEOPLE in 2004, “My husband always said, ‘If I’d known so many people would ask me how I proposed, I would have done it in some more theatrical way.’ “
They wed in a 2001 Greek Orthodox ceremony and moved from Chicago to New York City to further their careers. Richmond has composed music for several of Fey’s high-profile projects, including 30 Rock, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and the Mean Girls musical.

“[We] fell back together so easily and lovingly,” Lynch told Parade in 2019. “We’re very different people now — we don’t have the same insecurities we used to have.”
The Glee alumna opened up about her relationship to PEOPLE in 2020, explaining why Cheyne makes her “thankful all day long.”
“She figures out how to deal with [everything],” said Lynch. “That’s the greatest thing about her, because I get overwhelmed, and I have no patience with details. She’s very methodical and she takes things very slowly.”
