Meghan Markle is laughing off a slight dismissal of Suits, the hit show she starred in for seven seasons before marrying Prince Harry, in the new season of her Netflix series.
In an episode from the second season of With Love, Meghan, which premiered on Aug. 26, the Duchess of Sussex and her longtime friend Heather Dorak met up with a mixologist named Payman Bahmani-Bailey. Meghan asked him how he became a mixologist and in response, he told her he used to be a lawyer in New York before getting into the craft.
“Did you watch Suits?” she asked, referring to the legal drama on which she played Rachel Zane for seven seasons.
“No, no, I don’t watch basic cable,” Bahmani-Bailey responded, which elicited a chuckle from Meghan.

“I like shows with curse words and stuff,” Bahmani-Bailey explained.
“Great, I love it,” Meghan replied.
Meghan’s character wrapped her storyline with a wedding in the seventh season, ahead of her wedding to Prince Harry, but Suits went on for two more seasons and found a new audience when it came to Netflix in 2023.
Meghan, 44, told PEOPLE exclusively earlier this year, “I’m not surprised that people are rediscovering Suits because it was so well written and so well produced.”
“It’s a time capsule for me,” she added, revealing she still has a piece of Zane’s signature wardrobe. “I still have the pencil skirt from the first episode! That’s the one thing I kept.”

Meghan was living in Toronto, where the show was filmed, when she first connected with Prince Harry, now 40. After their first dates took place in 2016, the couple kept a long-distance relationship, traveling between Canada and the U.K. to visit each other, never going more than two weeks apart.

In the couple’s engagement interview in November 2017, Meghan touched on leaving the show.
“I don’t see it as giving anything up. I just see it as a change. It’s a new chapter, right? And also, keep in mind, I’ve been working on my show for seven years. We were very, very fortunate to have that sort of longevity on a series,” she said.
“I’ve ticked this box, and I feel very proud of the work I’ve done there, and now it’s time to work with [Harry] as a team,” she added. “I think what’s been really exciting as we talk about the transition out of my career and into my role is the causes that are really important to me that I can focus even more energy on.”
