Wendell Pierce is teasing his future in the rebooted DC Universe after having starred as the editor-in-chief of the fictional newspaper The Daily Planet in 2025’s Superman.
During an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at the All the President’s Men reading to benefit the Center at West Park (CWP) on Monday, Aug. 25, the 61-year-old actor shares that there has been chatter surrounding his character’s next appearance.
Pierce says there’s hope he will reprise his role in the rumored television series revolving around Skyler Gisondo’s Jimmy Olsen, who works with movie leads Clark Kent (David Corenswet) and Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) at the aforementioned newspaper.
“There’s been a little talk about a little television show around Jimmy Olsen,” the actor tells PEOPLE when asked about starring in future installments. “I am his boss, so he can’t work without me.”

Directed and written by James Gunn, the movie introduces the titular character as someone “who’s driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind,” per a synopsis. The cast also stars Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific.
The Wall Street Journal was the first to report that Gunn, chairman and CEO of DC Studios, with Peter Safran, was considering TV show spinoffs for Jimmy and Mister Terrific.

The one-night-only reading of All the President’s Men was in support of CWP’s efforts to save the historic West Park Presbyterian Church. The New York City church, located in Manhattan’s Upper West Side, has been facing ongoing threats of demolition and eviction to build high-rise apartments.
Taking place at Guild Hall in East Hampton, N.Y., the event featured a starry cast that included Alec Baldwin, Robert Downey Jr., Nathan Lane, Julianne Moore, Gwyneth Paltrow, J. Smith-Cameron, among others.
The reading of the 1976 thriller about the former president Richard Nixon’s Watergate scandal was followed by a conversation with reporters and film subjects Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, who wrote the non-fiction book the movie was based on.

Speaking about the importance of community art spaces, Pierce says, “As a person, it is the form of art where we as a community reflect on who we are, decide what our values are, then go out into the world and act on those values. That’s the role of art. Entertainment is just a byproduct of it.”
He continues, “With that realization, it’s important to make sure that organizations like this thrive so that we as a community can thrive.”
The actor adds that it felt “great” to be included in the cast, saying, “We’re with some of the best in the business, so it’s really wonderful.”
